They can't afford to retaliate. They are not capable of going to war with the U.S., and it's allies. The Russian and Chinese will not go to war for Iran. If they don't retaliate, they risk looking week. #iran is between a rock and a hard place. This move is genius.

I think Russia saw it coming. They were possibly playing both sides if this happened. After all they didn't interfere a lot of times Israel was bombing the Heck out of Syrian areas where the Iranians were. And visiting Israel the day after the bombing and then holding back more military arms to Syria. Russia has lost many men fighting in Syria. And remember they often feed and clothed the Syrians.
