Just wanted to start a thread in General/Chat to throw out a God Bless and the wish of a Happy Thanksgiving to all of us here at Free Republic. For those of you here who may not be celebrating - or cannot celebrate - this grand, blessed day with friends and family, remember that your virtual friends and family are right here and in our thoughts, prayers, and conversations. We'll all be online at some point, so go grab a Cracker Barrel Country Fried Turkey carryout, shout out your name, and we'll invite you into our lives and homes on this day.
As for the rest of you, show some table manners around your mother. She didn't raise a bunch of Huns. LOL J/K
Happy Thanksgiving to all my FRiends!!
It’s not just the calendar, it’s the intent and the spirit. Serve that turkey after candlelight services on Christmas Eve if you have to. You enjoy that family of yours.
I love that picture of George Washington! Happy Thanksgiving to all my FReeper friends. What a blessing to have Donald Trump as our president. My husband says, and I agree, that he is a true blessing from God to the United States.
Yes, Swanson was the first thing that popped into my head when I thought about TV dinners.
Thank you, Governor. I think we tend to get so wrapped up in the little things anymore, we lose sight of the greater portrait. You, and I, and so many of us, would go kicking and screaming into the dustbin of history rather than let our heritage and our common culture be treated as a doormat of the so-called ‘progressives’. They have nothing but emptiness, self-pity, loathing, and undirected anger to hang on to. America was never perfect from the time our forefathers first set foot on this soil, and never will be. But, by God, it’s been a better place than any other form of government could ever establish, and ever shall be. God Bless America.
I lost 5 teeth to gum disease but they were side and back teeth. Gum disease is not really curable but they did deep cleaning, believe me when Germans say they will do deep cleaning of your gums they mean it, so I am good for at least 10 years. The teeth he put in dont come out. I am missing the upper back teeth on each side but I am not having a problem with that, not really noticeable. I elected to have a front lower tooth pulled and replaced because it became discolored and insurance covered it all.
Now I am done with the dentist. This been going on since late summer. I remember seeing my mother for the first time with no teeth. She looked sad so I made a joke, she smiled and I told her be happy you can still smile.
You’re welcome. Think about it. There are at least a BILLION people on earth who would trade places with any one of us in a heartbeat. We are so blessed. Happy Thanksgiving!
OMG, that sounds like a Thanksgiving dinner for The Ages. Document it and post it here. ‘Half Japanese, half Missouri redneck’. LOL!!!!!!!! But hey, I’m not casting aspersions on it: I’m of Germanic heritage on both sides of my family, and grew up in a region that has always embraced that culture and cuisine. Some restaurants - and families - still serve sauerkraut as a traditional Thanksgiving side dish back home. Kraut, fried rice, in the end it doesn’t matter. It’s honoring the intent and the spirit that’s the most important. So throw a little ethnic soul food on the table, if it achieves the purpose. The Dude abides.
I am thankful that my son, daughter in law and 6 year old granddaughter who have lived 500 miles away are now living 4 miles away. My daughter and her family live 3 miles away. We are retired and so blessed. Thanksgiving today is going to be wonderful..
Thanks, and you do the same.
No, gum disease isn’t reversible. Once the capillaries start to die off and your root and the surrounding tissue become oxygen starved, there’s no going back. I’d had several ‘deep scaling’ procedures to keep mine clean and viable, but to no avail. I was initially of mixed emotions when I lost the last of mine; on one hand, it was a bit depressing; on the other hand, I almost cried tears of joy, knowing that even though the battle was lost, I wasn’t going to have to go through that torment anymore. Since then, the worst I’ve experienced was when they jammed that spoon full of molding material into my upper palate to make my new, $6k teeth. It had too much on it and was hanging down like a pair of bull testicles playing soccer with my uvula. LOL The longest five minutes of my life.
Good morning, John. *snicker*
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I knew you’d chime in. ;-)
Happy Thanksgiving!
