Happy Thanksgiving 2019 To All!
Yours Truly | 11/28/19 | Myself

Posted on 11/27/2019 10:12:53 PM PST by Viking2002

Just wanted to start a thread in General/Chat to throw out a God Bless and the wish of a Happy Thanksgiving to all of us here at Free Republic. For those of you here who may not be celebrating - or cannot celebrate - this grand, blessed day with friends and family, remember that your virtual friends and family are right here and in our thoughts, prayers, and conversations. We'll all be online at some point, so go grab a Cracker Barrel Country Fried Turkey carryout, shout out your name, and we'll invite you into our lives and homes on this day.

As for the rest of you, show some table manners around your mother. She didn't raise a bunch of Huns. LOL J/K

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I won’t be cooking until Saturday. That’s when my oldest son will be coming to visit. My youngest son lives in Indiana, and will be having Thanksgiving with his wife. God Bless Everyone, God Bless President Trump and Vice President Pence and their families, and God Bless America!!

Yesterday I got my final missing teeth replaced.
Now I can eat and eat and eat.

“vegetarian chicken”

At my favorite cafeteria, they call that chick’n. I’m guessing it’s made of tofu, but I really don’t know.

Happy Thanksgiving All! If you have family, I would encourage you to savor every single moment you have with them. You know you won’t have them forever, but you also may not realize how much you will miss them when they are gone.

My wife is too ill to eat a big Thanksgiving meal. Instead we will have something simple and give thanks that she is still with me. For a laugh I was going to look for one of those Turkey TV dinners but we live in Spain now and they don’t sell them around here. Maybe we’ll have Turkey sandwiches instead.
A happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. I'm in and out in terms of activity on the board, but I remain a loyal Freeper.

We'll be celebrating with a non-traditional feast of Japanese family favorites. My wife is half-Japanese and half-Missouri redneck. Our son wants his Japanese favorites, and she'll do whatever her baby (age 25) wants!

So, Tonkatsu Chicken, fried rice, miso soup, sesame bean sprouts, sauted spinach and bacon, some sort of Japanese cheesecake.

I'm fine with it. If we're not having ham, I'm good with anything.

* Tonkatsu Chicken is a thin chicken cutlet, breaded with panko breadcrumbs, and fried - served with store-bought Tonkatsu sauce a bit like steak sauce, but not quite. Sesame bean sprouts are white bean sprouts, blanched and chilled, tossed with a sesame dressing handed down the generations, served cold, and one of my favorite things in the world. Miso soup has a bean paste base.

Blessings.

It ain't the food; it's the company.

Sounds like you've got some of the best.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your wife. I'm old enough to remember these, and it would be a hoot if you could find a couple and actually fix them in the oven:

LOL!

Hey fellow Old Person! I remember when TV dinners came in aluminum trays, too! LOL

I'm interested in the stainless tableware offer. Do you remember when the grocery stores used to do stuff like offer dishes or encyclopedias, one piece a week?

My mother bought a set of dishes that way. One week, the store offered the plates. The next week, it was bowls. And so on. Sold very cheaply, but you couldn't get it all at once. You had to come back every week.

Our set of Encyclopedias came to us via the Piggly Wiggly, one volume a week. I think they were $2-3 each.

And, if I remember correctly, she used to get dishtowels in her boxes of laundry soap. Maybe it was something else.

Every Anerican has a lot to be thankful for. Just being American is a great blessing.

Isn’t it a joy to regain a full set of uppers and lowers? I discovered something after losing my teeth to diabetes, one or two at a time: your gums toughen up. I got to the point where, unless I was biting into an apple or eating nuts, I actually preferred my toughened gums to my full dentures. I can chew a steak better now than I could when I was 25, hand to God. Don’t get me wrong, now. A person with any sort of dignity can get a wee bit self-conscious about having gaps in their smile. And you’re forever seeming to be retraining your mouth muscles to compensate for your vocal ability, and a new set of chompers are something that need to be mastered. But, I’m totally at ease around my wife, family, and friends when I don’t have them in. And they don’t mind one bit. To the point where I use the situation as a comedy prop when the moment calls for it. My nieces want to see how many new faces Unca Viking can make when I come up to visit. Even my cats seem to be amused. LOL! Just be yourself. Contrary to popular belief, missing teeth don’t mean you have to eat through a straw.
