Paramedic accused of cutting diamond ring off dead patient's finger, pawning it

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - An Arkansas paramedic is charged with felony theft after authorities allege she cut a 1.7-carat diamond ring off a dead patient’s finger last month and pawned it for $45.

Lisa Darlene Glaze, 50, of Hot Springs Village, is charged with theft by receiving and misdemeanor transfer of stolen property to a pawn shop, according to Garland County court records. Arrested Monday, she has since been released on $4,500 bond.

The Sentinel-Record in Hot Springs reported that Glaze, a paramedic at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, was one of the paramedics who attended to Gloria Farrar Robinson on Oct. 16 when the 72-year-old Whie Hall woman suffered a medical emergency. A probable cause affidavit obtained by the newspaper stated Robinson was taken to CHI St. Vincent, where she later died.

After Robinson died, her personal effects were given to her husband, identified in her obituary as Leonard Robinson, and her sister, Alesia Massey. Massey asked Glaze about three of Robinson’s rings that were missing.

Glaze “did not answer her and walked away,” according to the affidavit.

I heard about a local coroner who would sometimes be called to people’s homes to sign death certificates.

If the deceased was without immediate family, he would allegedly rifle through their possessions and steal jewelry, etc.

We had a friend who’s mother needed an ambulance and when they got to the hospital to see if she made it. Her wedding ring was gone. $40,000+.

Maybe she can get some sort of training for a new occupation so she can find a job when she gets out of the slammer.

DemocRAT poll watcher seems right up her alley.

The answer is shocking. Check out how much actual medical training these people have. Now they are being hired to work in Urgent Care clinics. DO NOT take medical care for granted.

My daughter was a nationally-licensed Paramedic before finishing Nursing and getting her BSN. She had two Associate degrees: an AA in Biology and an AAS in Paramedicine.

$45 for a 1.7 carat ring? Wow! I can’t even imagine what a 1.7 carat diamond would be owrth. $5000 at least. Much more depending on cut, color, and clarity.

Yep. Looks like.

Forever, I’ve heard tales of this sort of thing happening and worse stuff like raping unconscious patients.

In 2015, someone at my MIL’s retirement home in CA stole ALL of her good jewelry a few hours before she died. While in a coma, her diamonds were taken off her fingers. We thought she should’ve not been wearing them, and then we learned that even the good stuff she had put away had been taken, too.

We have our ideas, but nothing could be proven.

This is extremely common. If you are in a car accident they Will steal all the cash from your wallet. Your belongings will get rifled and stolen. EMT’s do it, police do it, firemen do it, and emergency room helpers do it too. I had an accident where car needed a tow and all my music cd’s were stolen. When My father had an accident all his cash was taken, a coworker of mine who also was part-time secretary in the emergency room was convicted of stealing patient’s jewelry and cash. Unfortunately it’s not a rare occurrence. These criminals should have the book thrown at them.
