No one was talking about the Browns victory but about the teams star defensive player swinging Mason Rudolphs helmet at the quarterbacks head.
A wins a win. I dont think its overshadowed by what happened in eight seconds, Garrett told reporters in the locker room.
Garrett refused to talk about what set him off. Replays showed that Rudolph tried to rip off Garretts helmet before trying to kick him.

That was really bad.
I would bet that Freddie will be gone at the end of this season or possibly before now as a result of this latest activity. Something ain’t right in Cleveland.
It’s just a children’s game, being played and watched by Peter Pan adults who never want to grow up.
Yes, lost boy, Assault is more important than playing a game with a ball. Win or lose.
PC 245(a)(1) reads: "Any person who commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not exceeding one year, or by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment."
If the NFL wants to get serious they should have him charged. But that will never happen.
Thugs gonna thug; so what? I’ve not watched in three years and won’t be back. I don’t want to support people who hate me.
When you are perennial losers anger is bound to rise. The NFL loves having 5-10 poor teams in the league. It makes their TV contracts larger, allows the good teams and players to look even better and prevents competition in cities that can’t support an NFL team without revenue sharing. I would love to see the day when congress pulls the anti-trust exemption from pro sports leagues.
Should be banned from playing football for life.
I know a guy whose brother actually stabbed him with a ceremonial sword - right through the liver. It was shocking, but he lived after several surgeries. His brother paid a price, but they are still brothers and he was forgiven and the family is still intact.
That was low.
I don't watch the NFL, and haven't long before the kneeling started, because it is nothing more than a bunch of criminal thugs for the most part. Many players have arrests records for all kinds of crimes. Domestic abuse arrest against girlfriends and wives seems to be common.
The NFL lost sight of the "sports" aspect of football a long time ago and focused on the baddest, meanest, thuggish badasses they could find to play havoc on the field.
I lost interest when it became so pervasive, it was like watching the nightly police plotter on the TV news.
Not a professional sport at all. Legalized violence and mayhem.
Last night I was watching prayer service and UFC Fight Night and a football game broke out.
This is so easy to figure out its like black and white.
Rudolph does appear to try to take of Garretts Helmet first, but the kick allegation seems a bit much, that was after Garret was yanking him around by his facemask.... seems like a defensive move rather than an offensive one by that point.
Either way, nothing really surprising here.
I commend Garret for owning that he clearly lost his cool... he’ll get suspended, as will Pouncey for kicking Garret in the head afterwards.
On a previous thread, someone suggested ‘roid rage. I think that’s pretty close to the bullseye.
OJ: “I made a mistake; I lost my cool”
Okay.
What about QB who tried, but failed, to rip the helmet off Garrett? Is an 8 game suspension fair. The QB was ultimately the instigator. If he hadnt grabbed Garretts face mask I dont think anything else would have happened?
Hitting someone in the head with a helmet is one of the improvised weapons taught by the US Army as a way to kill on the battlefield.
Should be banned from NFL and should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
You don't know what you are talking about.
Myles Garret is a polite, well mannered young man. Despite this moment of weakness, he is the type of man most fathers would like their sons to be. Perhaps you should meet the man before casting crap in his direction.
It is up to the NFL to investigate this incident and respond appropriately. Whatever the punishment, I am sure Myles will accept it with grace and dignity.
And then be on his best behavior. Because the Patriots don’t put up with this kind of crap.
I agree that it looks like Rudolph started it by attempting to take off Garrett’s helmet first, and if Garrett had simply stopped after taking off Rudolph’s helmet, then I don’t think it would have been such a big deal. But Garrett went on to use the helmet as a weapon to strike Rudolph in the head, escalating the violence by an order of magnitude. I think some game suspensions are in order for Garrett. Yes, the fact that Rudolph appeared to start the altercation should be a factor in determining the number of suspended games, but only a slight factor IMO.
