The Bordeaux wines will be stored on the ISS at 18 degrees Celsius for one year before being returned to earth and compared to a control sample that has been kept at the same temperature, NASA said in an explainer article. The name of the Château involved has not been released.
Its not the first time that wine has been sent to space. Château Lynch-Bages saw its 1975 vintage launched into space aboard NASAs Discovery shuttle in 1985, returning to earth in 2015.
The Bordeaux wines will be stored in a Complex Microbiological System or CommuBioS according to NASA.
Scientists were keen to study how radiation and microgravity affected components in the wine, such as polyphenols, crystals and tannins.

Don’t denigrate my box wine. April was a very good month.

At least Sutter Home white zinfandel or some such.
With NASA’s budget, you can bet they sent a rare designer bottle “for ideal testing conditions”.

Someone probably got the good stuff and dumped some cheap vino figuring they’d never get caught.

A stupid study at best. A colossal waste of money at worst.

Maybe this is how we will get Buck Rogers back to Earth in 500 years after figuring out how to flash freeze him.
Wine cryogenics is the first step.

I'm bored with Bordeaux. Let's try some Merlot.

That’s an interesting experiment.

Lol, they may want to consider a lock box, or this experiment is going to fail. :)

Sparkling Muscatel, one of the finest wines of Idaho, should have been used.
