76 when I’m home, 78 when I’m at work. Like it or leave it.

When they pay my utility bill, they can “recommend” whatever they like.
In the meantime, they can go piss up a rope.

Yup, go ahead. Then in about one year expect to receive a notice the electric company is filing for a rate increase because too many are using less electric, or gas or whatever.

Just one time I’d like to hear someone utter some wise idea from DC.

No.
I set it to 76 (80 at night), my wife threatens to kill me - either by actually lowering it to 65, or by other means.
I work outside all summer (on laptop computer). It’s 90 right now, so 76 will be nice when I go back in.
After months of her discontent, I finally set it to 74.

We’ll resume the struggle when she finds out the heater is set to 70 (68 at night).
Growing up, bedroom got down around 56. She’ll respond by setting it to 78.

Uh, no.

“In general, the suggested bedroom temperature should be between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal sleep. When lying in bed trying to snooze, your body temperature decreases to initiate sleep—and the proposed temperatures above can actually help facilitate this. If your room is cool, rather than warm, it will be much easier to shut your eyes for the night.”

I have a hard enough problem sleeping as it is. My money, my choice.

It’s like in California there are like 15 different agencies and departments telling us to use less water. How many people do we need to tell us we are using too much water? Same with electricity. They charge an arm and two legs for electric power between 5 and 8 pm. The meters have the ability to say when you use your energy and charge accordingly. If electricity being 4 times as expensive between 5 and 8 is not enough to convince you that sweating is not that bad I don’t know anything. But then we have a committee of government workers sitting around discussing what temperature we should put in our thermostat.
