I’m old enough to have watched LBJ’s entire presidency and despised him in real time. But not for the BS that you’re spouting.

You’ll have to try selling your line to someone who knows as little about what went on then as you do.

LBJ was a protege of FDR, he was a leader of the liberal wing of the Democrat Party, he had allies among GOP liberals, the very ones who helped him pass his programs.

The one siding with liberals is you. At least you’re siding with ‘60s liberals, but seeing how many of today’s conservatives seem intent on conserving LBJ’s legacy maybe LBJ is an honorary 2019 conservative. In your case you have the bad manners to accuse LBJ of being a racist while cheering his legacy. Back then only the Left would have done that.

I probably heard the same stories from my students.

One family had a huge strawberry farm in Mexico so the parents would take turns staying with the kids here in AZ.

They didn’t want oldest son who was in our class to even go back to visit, he was a good size and they didn’t want the cartel to kidnap him.

So he stayed here and terrorized us, he was a pill, had to finally put him in the alternative school to work online.

His parents were very nice good people and were so embarrassed by how he acted.

We felt he was acting up so they would send him home, he just didn’t know how much his parents loved him and wanted to keep him safe.

I did hear he finally grew up and did just fine, graduated even.

I recall that a Conservative group, which kept tabs on Congressional voting records, reported in the1960 campaign, that while LBJ had only voted Conservative about 11% of the time, JFK, whose reputation was more radical yet, had actually voted with the Conservatives 12% of the time.

In what followed, Kennedy struck out in pushing through the Leftist agenda, but LBJ succeeded in doing so--in part through a better knowledge of how to work the Senate, and--in part--by seizing the wave of sympathy after the Kennedy assassination. Supposedly the FBI does not have to inform the target of a “counterintelligence operation.” Such an investigation was intended for the head of a terrorist organization, a drug cartel, an enemy in time of war, etc., but NOT a political opponent. Read a short article yesterday saying that Mexico was cooperating better with US. This arrest may have been a result of that. It’s common knowledge that Mexico can’t keep their criminals in jails, but if they track them into US and notify our agents to arrest it works out for both sides. Trial and imprisoned here. Off the streets there. Split the profits.
