So glad. There’s no way I could serve in today’s freak filled SJW military.

I’d be doing time down by the Missouri River.

Wouldn’t it be easier to give them free cigarettes in combat?

Guess I should have read it. That should be a great recruitment tool. Oh, by the way, if you enlist, you are forbidden to drink beer off duty.

Part of serving is becoming a borderline alcoholic when off duty.

Very true, I had some great, lost memory drunken episodes while proudly serving.

Are they insane?

When I was in the Rangers, and we were not in the field or deployed somewhere, the first place I headed when I got an hour or two off, was the Pizza Pub for a pizza and a beer.

The last thing I needed in those days was a ‘keto diet’.

Heh! The Chiefs on my ship had lobster tails and steaks every Friday for dinner chow.
Of course they paid for it on their own.

(To this day, I blamed that for my pot belly after working the Chief’s Mess -We got the leftovers)

I not only have my DD-214 (actually, several), but I also get a monthly retirement check for my military service, which enables me to buy plenty of pizza and beer.

It works well for some people. I think it’s nutty to suggest that it’s good for everyone, especially some men involved in hard physical work. It can also turn out to be horrible for morale.

I never heard of SOS before going to MCRD San Diego, but I fell in love with the stuff once I tasted it for the first time.

Moderate protein, not high...unless you're doing a lot of weight lifting.

Too much protein can kick you out of ketosis (or so they say).

I ate a lot of protein (I lift but not extremely heavy) but never got kicked out of ketosis.

I think the secret re: protein is to keep it within the bounds of what you need given your work-out schedule. There are a lot of good rules of thumb online as to how many grams of protein to eat a day given your size and activity.

In other words, balanced macros depending on activity...but mostly fat (since keto is basically a switch of a body's fuel from carbs to fat).

The use of water is also important. When I started Atkins some years ago (it was successful, but I had an unrelated problem and fell off) I was surprised by the amount of veggies in the model "induction" diet -- they were veggies that I ordinarily didn't eat (at least one I'd literally never eaten, despite my advancing years). The ones most of us usually eat tend to be high carb.
