This goes out to all the Illinois Freepers --- at least those of us who are left. Are there any besides Lurker and I?
The purpose of this thread is to find out who's left here in this Socialist Hell-Hole run by Fat Boy JB Pritzker, the puppet of Mike Madigan. Let's get together, enjoy a few adult beverages and brainstorm about our plans to either get the hell out of this state, or participate in saving it during the next election.
I personally think this state is lost and we should drink ourselves to oblivion and get the hell out of here. Some of you may have other ideas. I don't know.
In either case, we Illinois Freepers used to be pretty active "back in the day" having met with the great Henry Hyde, who led the charge in the House and Senate to impeach and remove Bill Clinton, harassed Bill Clinton where ever he went in/around Chicago, researched and outed Barack Obama and his association with Jeremiah Wright and so much more.
Illinois Freepers have a history, a good history. Our state is often mocked (Hell, I do much of that myself) and being in the same state as the Murder Capital of the U.S. Shitcago sure gives the rest of the state a bad name.
Dammit anyway, it's time to get the band back together and commiserate.
What say you all? I believe many of us are in Will and DuPage counties, some are in far western and southwestern C(r)ook County and I believe there's a few in Northwest Indiana that may be interested in as well.
Venue to be chosen, likely in the West/Southwest Suburbs and likely a brew-pub. Interest in good beer, good food and getting to know your fellow Illinois Freepers is a must.
We used to be a friendly group ... probably still are, though I've gotten much older and if you step on my lawn prepare for war, but still, friendly.

I went to the Free Republic National Tea Party Convention a few years back! It was really good to be around like-minded people, contrasted with this blue state I live in.

As an ex-Illinoian now living in Colorado, I’ve long been urging my brother to get the hell out of the state before it all falls down. Unfortunately, he can’t afford to stay and he can’t afford to move.
BlackElk (R.I.P.) passed away. My family escaped in 2014, but there will always be a piece of Rockford in me.

I’ve actually been around for 20+ years. I go back to the days of the start of Jim, Ed and Cory. Had an accout sign in issue in 2016, got to keep my name, but lost all my history.
I am still in Crook County. Will leave as soon as it’s possible for me. It’s getting closer month by month. I have a bunch of unused Uber gift cards I got for Christmas. What a lovely way to use some ;) (I don’t drive much anymore thus the cards). I do still take my Trans Am out once or twice a summer to the local car show still, but that’s about it. Put me on the ping list if you plan an outting.

You may be a little too late. Im gone, My family is gone, we helped a large portion of friends escape, and quite frankly now that we all can replicate giordanos, portillos and can get Vienna giardanaira shipped anywhere, Illinois can go to hell.
I’m in Texas but had to stop by and read this thread. I will always have a soft spot for Illinois since my grandparents had a farm near New Burnside and life there makes up a large part of my favorite childhood memories. It is so sad to hear what is happening now. All of those friends and relatives there were the absolute salt of the earth.
dupage here. I remember back in the day, some of us Freepers meeting at some gin joint somewhere...great story, huh ? Nothing came of it...
Still here in Saint Charles. If I could sell my house for more than I owe on it, I would’ve moved years ago. WORST. STATE. EVER.
Good luck, seriously. I left Illinois for Michigan in the 70’s it seemed a goner to me then.
For those of you who replied as interested and didn't post your town/location, can you please send that to me via Freepmail? I'll do my best to find a location that works best for the most people.
If this meeting is successful, I'll work on putting together another one in a location more suitable for those who may not be able to make this one. We'll "move it around" so everyone gets a chance to meet their fellow Freepers stuck in this shithole state.
