Baseball legend Pete Rose took a shot at his former teammate and Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench on Thursday during an appearance on The Brian Kilmeade Show.
Rose fired back after Bench refused to budge from his view that the former Cincinnati Reds star should be excluded from the Baseball Hall of Fame for gambling on the sport in 1989.
It don't bother me but you know Johnny Bench is one guy who should thank God I was born, Rose told host Brian Kilmeade. Because he never would have made the Hall of Fame if I wasn't born.
Kilmeade asked Rose to elaborate.
Because I'm the guy he knocked in a thousand times. You got you've got guys in front of you guys right behind you and you got to be responsible for everybody else involved, Rose said, adding that Bench couldnt understand why he wasnt as loved as Rose was in Cincinnati.

Another time Pete was Pete was when he got ejected for knocking the umpire flying. He truly acted outraged and stunned and had to be held back from further violence. What a violent, sack-of-shiite, over-rated loser!
... And of course THAT was an EXHIBITION game!!!
what is a good or acceptable CS vs Attempts?
I would agree of your assessment of Armstrong but only if the rest of the entire elite top European cycling community had been subjected to the same scrutiny and testing that Armstrong was by our own USADA.
Since they weren't, because they are all Europeans and not subject to our own country's laws, they all got a pass. I find the attacks on Armstrong the same witch hunt that is currently after our current president.......
If you're lucky to find any of Armstrong's TDF statistics that haven't been scrubbed from the internet, you'll find that he doesn't even rank in the top 10 of TDF stages won...........
The entire European cycling community is corrupt as hell but only the United States was willing to destroy the career of the only American who was able to compete on their terms..........
No no. He’s retracted that lie. The current version of the tale is that he did bet on games he was involved with but he only bet on his team to win.
Actually, Bench knocked Rose home a total of 166 times. Guess who the player was that Bench knocked home the most during his career? It was Bench, himself. Knocked himself home (hit a HR) 389 times.
Benchs lifetime OPS was .817. He is #24 on the list of catchers.
>> If Rose were on the Braves, he wouldn’t have BEEN the lead-off batter. <<
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! You’re surely not suggesting they would’ve used him at 3rd or 4th in order??!!!!
YOU DO NOT PITCH AROUND SINGLES HITTERS. EVER. THAT’S JUST ABSURD.
On the 1990s Yankees, Rose would’ve bat 9th. No, scratch that: 8th. They used 9th place for guys who can steal bases. No scratch that: there’s no way in Hell they’d ever stick a bat in the hand of a DH with a career slugging percentage of .409.
Career slugging percentages of Yankees’ 1996 1B and DH guys:
Cecil Fielder, .482 (.494 that year)
Tino Martinez, .471 (.466)
Tim Raines, .437 (808 stolen bases) (.468)
Darryl Strawberry, .505 (.490 that year)
Reuben Sierra, .450 (.403)
Yeah... a lot of those guys spent a lot of time ON THE BENCH. They sure as hell wouldn’t have let a screw-up like Pete Rose take their place in the order!
I dispute your fact. Rose played for I think 48 seasons, more or less. I may be off but it was lots and lots anyway. His numbers in his first few years weren't stellar and not in the last several seasons either. That waters down his career numbers for sure. But in his peak years, mostly with the Reds, Rose won three batting titles, came in second twice, and finished in the top ten a total of 13 times. Rose led the league in on-base percentage twice, and finished in the top-five eight times. He led the NL in hits seven times, and finished in the top five an 15, yes 15 seasons. Plus he led the league in doubles and finished in the top 5 14 times. He was on base and in scoring position a lot.
It is a fact that Rose was not a thoroughly mediocre hitter.
I’d say you should keep CS under one-third of attempts. League average is actually MUCH lower than that. Arizona is only 4 out of 36. Yankees are 7 out of 35. Royals lead the league in Caught Stealing: 21 out of 78.
(Yeah, I think most players should be more aggressive on the bases.)
How bizarre of a post to which to respond.
Set an example and learn the language. Assimilate.
Good luck with that, let us know how it turns out!
I noticed you omitted a few of his records.
Relax...deep breaths.
