May 27, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) Speaking with one of the best-known conservative Jews, Dennis Prager, at the PragerU summit last week, world-famous psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke of God and his views of faith. After speaking about his dislike for the question Do you believe in God? Peterson said, I think that Catholicism that's as sane as people can get.
Peterson has often been asked about his faith, if he believes in God, and he said the question has always troubled him. He promised a podcast on the matter since he has given his dislike for the question much thought.
He explained, Who would have the audacity to claim that they believed in God if they examined the way they lived? Who would dare say that?
To believe, in a Christian sense, he added, means that you live it out fully and that's an that's an unbearable task in some sense.
Then in one long drawn-out, rapid-fire thought, the type that has enthralled his millions of fans, he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:
To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.
See the full exchange of Peterson and Prager here.
No purported priest on FR has demonstrated ability in that area either.
Horn is in that same category, having a degree from a Catholic seminary where he didn't have enough training in BIBLE to understand how to rightly divide the Scriptures.
He closes with this:
"So who are the most “catholic” or universal Christians? The ones who follow St. Peter’s dictum, “no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation” (2 Pet. 1:20) and adhere to the universal teachings of the church of the living God, which is “the pillar and foundation of truth” (1 Tim. 3:15)."
In doing so, he misinterprets 2 Peter 1:20 and I Timothy 3:15, both of which have been discussed on this forum multiple times.
Really, this article is the thinnest of gruel and not worth discussion... though I'm sure my brothers and sisters, who agree on the essentials, will chime in with their insights.
As we don't recognize nor are we subject to the Roman Pontiff, then per Roman Catholicism, but not the New Testament, we're not saved.
But hey, we've got a good number of Roman Catholics who are already doing this!
Furthermore, we declare, we proclaim, we define that it is absolutely necessary for salvation that every human creature be subject to the Roman Pontiff.

The "Immaculate Conception" would be another area we part company with Roman Catholicism...or rather, where Roman Catholicism has parted company with Scripture.
Hence, if anyone shall dare--which God forbid!--to think otherwise than as has been defined by us, let him know and understand that he is condemned by his own judgment; that he has suffered shipwreck in the faith; that he has separated from the unity of the Church; and that, furthermore, by his own action he incurs the penalties established by law if he should dare to express in words or writing or by any other outward means the errors he think in his heart.http://www.ewtn.com/faith/teachings/marye1.htm
So no....based on just these two statements, I don't know what we have in common with Roman Catholicism other than some common names.
I am sure some do. The rest of us are bragging about our son and grand son, commissioned US Military Officers. 😁🤣🇵🇭
And with good reason to do so!
Class, discuss.
I just was pinged to this, and what's to discuss? In the context of historical arguments in support of belief in God by the likes of Aquinas, then the man can make that statement.
However, it is hardly sane for one who is enlightened by Scripture to hold to distinctive Catholic teachings that are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (including how they understood the OT and gospels), which is Scripture, especially Acts thru Revelation.
Which includes believing in a incarnated christ whose "true body," the "true and proper and lifegiving flesh and blood of Jesus Christ our Lord," "the very body which he gave up for us on the cross," "corporeally present whole and entire in His physical reality ("consequently, eating and drinking are to be understood of the actual partaking of Christ in person, hence literally") does not correspond to what he materially appears to be, in contrast to the manifest physicality of the Christ of Scripture, which is much emphasized in contrast to a christ whose appearance did not correspond to what he physicality appeared to be.
Instead, what he appears to be - bread - does not actually exist, even though by all tests of physicality it is what it appears to be, and thus suffers manifest decay. At which point this body of christ no longer no exist under that disguised appearance either.
In addition to which is the adulation and even worship (once the word games are exposed) of a heavenly demigoddess, to which are ascribed, without censure, attributes, titles and glory which are nowhere given to any created being, but only to God .
And these are only the start, and with the basis for the professed veracity of which claims not resting upon the weight of Scriptural substantiation, but upon the the novel and unScriptural premise of ensured perpetual magisterial infallibility.
And with her leadership - to which Catholics are directed to rely on - manifestly considering most all of those in the various (informal) Catholic sects to be members in life and in death, from traditionalists (though these are in the most danger overall of being considered schismatic, as some are) to many proabortion, prohomosexual public figures, all of which are members in this "one true church."
No, Catholicism is far from being as sane as people can get, even if it is not as insane as one can get either.
Well of course you will,
Just like all the other words
you and your pals try to
put in my mouth.
Why the nerve of my

Did you read 1 Cor 6:19-24?
Perhaps your fellow RCs recognize it for what it's worth.
But you be the leader here....what's YOUR score?
before you even get to the Sacraments.
I'm glad you asked ealgeone
I believe in all of these so I give myself
a perfect score however
how my life, on balance scores will be
up to our Lord, Christ Jesus at
my final judgement and
I will graciously defer that to His
authority.

I dont think my score was very high, even when I was a catholic. 😁😆
Too infantile; didn’t read.
Here is a link to our wonderful pastor
it seems to directly addresses that.

8But what does it say? THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEARTthat is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11For the Scripture says, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
13for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.
Romans 10:8-13 NASB

I bet Elsie could help!
