A former top FBI lawyer said there was concern at the bureau that then-FBI Director James Comey was trying to blackmail then-President-elect Donald Trump with the notorious Steele dossier. On Tuesday’s Yahoo News podcast “Skullduggery,” James Baker described the atmosphere as “quite worried” after Comey met with Trump on Jan. 6, 2017, shortly before his inauguration. Baker says the way Comey threw the dossier into Trump’s face, it was difficult not to draw “analogies” to the behavior of FBI founding Director J. Edgar Hoover, who ruled federal law enforcement for nearly 50 years.

Typically, blackmail involves a money payout but I think Comey was using it to pressure Trump.
The “Golden Shower” story was already leaked before the election and I believe the intent was to inflame black voters to turn out for Hillary (and perhaps turn off some fundamentalists).
Otherwise, who cares? Was it illegal? Regardless, it never happened. They couldn’t even prove he was in Russia for this incident to have happened.

His job as FBI was tenuous to say the least, pretty much everyone wanted him gone in January 2017.
If he was replaced, he would no longer be in a powerful position and able to block investigation into what the FBI had been up to

I believe this goes all the way to the top as I believe that Obama/KKKlinton were looking at the internal polling data at least a month before the election as she didn’t campaign hardly at all. The Steele Dossier, Russian Interference were all made up excuses post election in the hopes that Trump would simply quit. Once that didn’t happen, then they had the Muller investigation, which was a perjury trap that Trump would not fall into. Now its Barr is hiding something from the public.

Just like I bring up the fact that the FBI and DOJ would have told a democrat candidate about attempts by Russians to infiltrate, they instead chose to use the Russians to entrap Trump rather than use Trump to entrap the Russians, THE SAME IS TRUE with how Comey operated with Trump. He never went in and revealed to Trump everything that was going on. Instead he held many of his cards back and tried to engender trust from Trump and work leverage over him. When it wasn’t working, Comey escalated the FBI spying and counter-intelligence against Trump because they were afraid that if he gained power they were donefor.
Why would they spy on him if they didn’t think he had a chance of winning?

Comey was triggering the media to publish the dossier (the subject of the meeting was leaked, of course, making the dossier newsworthy) and those reports gave the FBI ammo to initiate investigations.
The FBI is the new KGB and needs to be broken up into 20 smaller agencies focused on one thing like kidnap cases, bank robbery cases, etc. They have lost all credibility and trustworthiness.

As more and more is published about Comey’s and Mueller’s past record as prosecutors, we discover that they are both, indeed, power hungry sleazeballs who have knowingly put many innocent people in prison or cost them lots of money and have destroyed large legitimate and innocent companies with false charges and convictions. These are the guys presented to us by Republicans and Democrats as paragons pf rectitude. These guys would have been at home in Joe Stalin’s version of the USSR.
Comey only met to show Trump the dossier so that Buzzfeed would have an excuse to release it.
It’s been reported that former FBI General Counsel James Baker is under criminal investigation for leaks, but not yet indicted.
I agree with you except for Barr. The jury is still out on him.
