Just heard Alice Cooper's Schools Out song. Reminded me of the 60's when there was so much 'free love'. Looking back I don't believe it. Just the media's attempt that it was all-out there for the taking and you were missing out if you weren't getting it. Drugs and music were the SUBSTITUTES for sex. Women were out there but not as available as the media would have you believe. Being easily led again.
I was in my 20’s during the 60’s, married and in the military. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary...even in Europe.
You might as well say Hallowed Be Thy Name by Iron Maiden is anti-God due to the song lyrics.
Old saying: “A lot of guys joined the revolution just to get laid”.
Heh! As it happens, while Im reading this thread Muscle of Love starts playing on my self-built Pandora channel.
I recall back Junior High, St. Cecilia Catholic School. On the first Thursday of the month, we used to have what were called ‘Sock-Hops’ after school.
Some of us did ‘Social Dancing’, or slow dancing, where you actually got to hold the girl for a while. Two popular songs for ‘Social Dancing’ were;
“I Found Love On A Two Way Street”, another was “La-La-La- Means I Love You.” For the Rockers, they played “Bang A Gong” by T-Rex or “Crimson In Clover” by Tommy James & the Shondells, or “Brown Sugar” by Rolling Stones.
The Nuns stood by near the walls acting as eagle-eyed chaperones, holding there yardsticks to tap students who became ‘too activated’ with their dance partners.
Sock Hops is where the tables in the cafeteria were folded up and stacked near the walls. The students would have a few hours to eat junk food and dance in our socks. Socks, so that we didn’t mark up the janitors’s newly waxed floors.
We had about two hours for fun. After that, the tables were put back out on the floor, in preparation for Bingo Thursday.
Lots of the elder members of the parish would be waiting for us to clean up and clear out.
I turned 20 in 1969. Got married in 1980. In the intervening years I ran with pretty wild people. No military service. Didnt put my head toward finding a decent job till 1979. That decade is a bit of a blur. Realized I couldnt keep up the insanity much longer. I wouldnt want to ever live that lifestyle again, but I do enjoy most of the memories
“The 60’s” as people seem to think of that time really didn’t begin until the summer of 66 and seemed to continue until sometime around 1976.
“but in the late 80s and early 90s it was REALLY easy to get a woman to go to your place or hers the SAME NIGHT you met her.”
Yup
“Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll” - Ian Dury and the Blockheads - great version up on youtube.
Yall might want to stop by...
I beg to differ. I was there.
Sex was readily available. I came of age in the 1970’s when this song hit the airwaves, and it was an accurate depiction of the times.
Yes, the glorious, sinful 60s...when School’s Out was released in 72.
I see the connection.
Shhh!
That’s supposed to be a secret!
Votes Republican.
Ted Nugent said that when the other musicians were drunk and stone, he’d steal their women.
If you compare women and chastity in the 60s and 70s with today then no question women and girls are exponentially more into sex as simple gratification and have many many partners
Ive got three boys in high school
Young men are frankly discouraged by todays girls and their thirst to act like boys are supposed to stereotypically
I grew up in the era you allude to. Born 1957.
In my era you had to be in a relationship with a girl for sex and maybe not even then. There were girls that were loose and had many partners or were considered easy or ran trains ...voluntarily I might add...not incapacitated
I can remember maybe a half dozen girls like that...
And let me tell you there were a lot of kids proportionately when I was a kid...its was like we owned the world kind of.
Which is why advertising created this obsession with youth culture
By the late 70s disco which I loathed and quaaludes were loosening up formerly straight and arrow girls more.
By the 80s I was an adult and while still dating till 1987 it was different
As adults if you got on well and were attracted to each other then you likely had sex.
I dated again 95-98 but didnt notice much difference except my dates were younger.
But Im telling you today is just wrong and I love women and sex more than anyone here maybe but there has to be some sense of propriety
And theres little
Blow jobs at parties are like spin the bottle was fifty years ago
Im not kidding
You get a group of kids at a party at someone house ....which brings up another issue I have*......and some kid is a virgin
The girls unless hes repulsive will draw straws to see who gets him off orally or manually you know what I mean
And when they come out of the room the crowd cheers....like wee Romans
Girls are so forward....its crazy
I asked my sons what percentage of 17 year old girls who are pretty are virgins....maybe 5%
How many partners on average wil she have....15 and up
Kids hook up in cars before school and folks cheer over it
Im tellin yall feminism has brainwashed girls into thinking they are all Pikes at Ole Miss where bacchanalia is normal and desirable as a lifestyle
So girls can be equal....what a perversion of reason
I live in maybe the richest whitebread county in the south ..public schools are great
72% voted Trump and two parent families are the rule and many stay at home moms and churches everywhere all stripes....including six catholic churches ...lots of northerners came down for Saturn
The few black guys they have are of often good athletes and there is a dearth of decent black girls to suit them so white girls take turns throwing themselves at the black football stars and switch up after a few weeks so he gets to literally plow through the cream of the crop which of course makes the white guys jelly
I guess its prep for college and the NFL
Girls do it cause its the right thing to do an...dont be racist above all....like a sacrifice to the Minotaur God athlete....
I cant describe my views on that here.
Their open minded to a point parents sure dont know what little darling is up to or what happens when she inevitably gets knocked up.
*On places for kids to hang out..
Its homes period
Drinking age is stupidly now 21 so thats over which was a gathering place in my era
If they gather in a parking lot or farm the local gestapo will be there in minutes searching cars and shaking down....being a rich very white county with little crime we nonetheless have a huge police presence...i leave my house and I see 2-3 within a mile....driving around looking for revenue sources
They have the best toys and junkets here
They should farm them out to poorer counties
When I was young we could gather at public places and cops patrolled but unless you were openly drinking or smoking dope they left you alone
And Im talking at times in the long haired era...1500 kids cruising a park or large shopping centers
Anyhow...the genie is out of the bottle
It started with the pill in my view but Freepers love to blame hippies
A minority of folks in my youth took drugs and a tiny percentage were actual hippies
It wasnt like the movies
