Parked Tesla Spontaneously Explodes In Chinese Garage

About 24 hours ahead of Tesla’s coming “Investor Day” and just moments after we broke the news that Tesla had been granted a restraining order on a short seller who has been critical of the company on Twitter, stunning video has surfaced of a Tesla catching fire and exploding, while parked.

A self proclaimed Tesla owner in Shanghai that Tweets under the name @ShanghaiJayIn posted video on his Twitter moments ago of what appears to be a Tesla Model S, 1st generation, catching fire spontaneously in a Chinese parking garage.

Video at the bottom shows the aftermath of the fire…

Aftermath hopefully we will hear from Tesla what truly happened. pic.twitter.com/DuFi0pW9dk

So THAT is a “Chinese fire drill”!

I feel sorry for that poor innocent Audi parked next to the Tesla, minding its own business.

One has to question the timing of the incident.

Wow! I had an old Chevy station wagon which would bleed excess fuel into the exhaust (I think) and would have a delayed backfire about 20 to 30 seconds after I shut it off. Sounded like a shotgun.

Sounded impressive in an enclosed area, like a parking garage.

Usually the car doesn’t explode until you turn the key. This could be a big selling point, actually; because this way, at least the driver escapes with his life.

That TV camera was conveniently pointed right at the burning vehicle. Before it started burning.

But 40 Tesla’s burning up in China? Many more than the one much-hyped US gas car burning “on camera” by the (Staged) TV cameramen.

(Several US Tesla’s have also burned up on the road and while parked.)

One has to question the timing of the incident.

Just buy a Tesla on time, short Tesla stock, then..., blow up the car and cover your short position? What could go wrong???

In my life I’ve seen two cars catch fire while parked. Neither one of them made international news. They didn’t even make the local news.

There’s no key to turn in a Tesla, and no “start” button.

China produces the competition for Tesla. How conveeeenient that on “Investor Day” this nearly perfectly staged footage of a Tesla exploding emerges. Parked right in front of the camera... perfect lighting. Why would you even place a security camera to monitor two cars?

C02 is non-combustible. It’s why puts OUT fires.

And yet my dangerous guns can sit around for years and never fire themselves, catch on fire, or even pass gas.

Those things need built-in fire extinguishers. Now I have to remember to never park close to one. Not really a problem, no one drives them here in the mountains where their range would be around 50 miles.

I'll take my diesel, thank you very much.We just finished an 810 mile road trip...about 720 miles of perfect Interstate conditions and 100 miles of horrible driving (pouring rain, stop & go,getting lost, etc) and we got 47MPG. When I filled the tank when we got home the "distance to empty" reading on the instrument cluster was 820 miles.

Can't do that in a Tesla...and mine's never caught fire either.

Batteries can be extremely dangerous when ignite. Extremely high temperatures. It is a chemical fire.
