And yet my dangerous guns can sit around for years and never fire themselves, catch on fire, or even pass gas.

Those things need built-in fire extinguishers. Now I have to remember to never park close to one. Not really a problem, no one drives them here in the mountains where their range would be around 50 miles.

Many other EV’s have the same issue. Of course conventional vehicles have caught on fire also - many times. The problem with lithium batteries is that you have to reduce the heat in core. A standard extinguisher will not do that. Put the flame out and it will reignite.
