I dont share Michael Brendan Doughertys faith but I do share his impulse in reading this Rolling Stone piece: I promise right now. If you try to rebuild it as a secular Notre Dame, reflecting the political priorities of 2019, I will do my damndest to see that the next fire takes it all down. I wont come alone.

Just wait until they make the new Rose Window a crescent and place prayer rugs inside.
The local lib Austin, TX news station has the Notre Dame fire listed under Entertainment along with Carly Simon and Bill Cosby. https://www.kxan.com/entertainment-news
"Welcome to Notre Dame Museum of All Religions, including Pseudo-Religions, Religions of One Person or Animal, Cults, Drug-based Religions, all forms of Atheism, Gender-base Religions, Religions of Love and/or Hate, and anything we have overlooked."
You wild Optimist!
In the spirit of multiculturalism, why not rebuild Notre Dame as a cathedral, a mosque, a synagogue, and a temple of atheism? Each of the “faiths” could share the building on a rotating basis.
Instead of the spire topped by a cross, the spire could alternately display a crescent, a star of David, a cross, and a picture of Richard Dawkins. Then everybody would be equally unhappy, and the great god of multiculturalism would be properly worshipped.
They used "modern materials" when they re-did the cupola and dome on our county courthouse.
The "modern material" was STYROFOAM!
Now we have a new problem. The styrofoam is being destroyed by pigeon pecking and droppings.
I KNEW IT!
It’s gonna be a mosque.
Sounds like somebody didn’t do their homework at the architect’s office.......................
The Nazis destroyed the medieval Coventry Cathedral in 1940. The spire, and the outer walls are all that exist. They built the new one right next to it, and it’s very modern, not anything I admire. I visited the site on a bus tour I took in 2006.

They can get real hip and sell kale smoothies too
The English were foolish to make a King, the head of the church. He destroyed many, and confiscated their land, and wealth.
Now they’re talking about spending $75,000 or more for some cock-a-mamie way of keeping the pigeons off.
I don’t know for sure, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if the architect is the brother-in-law (or whatever) of the guy getting the new contract.
Personally, I think they should just hire a falconer. They could hook-up with the local college and the nearby State Wildlife Center and charge for falconry classes to offset costs.
Just put up some plastic owls like they do here................
I believe most Catholic churches, alters, and other religious objects are consecrated/sanctified by religious service. I also believe they need to be deconsecrated before the church can be used for any other purpose. Notre Dame most likely remains consecrated since they hold services there on a regular basis. It will be interesting to see how Rome reacts if they try to turn it into anything other than the Catholic cathedral it was originally built and consecrated to be.
When Civilizations Collide
From burnt down church spires to newly risen call to prayer towers..
EUrabia has set the stage for the coming New Dark Ages.
There’s a story about Oxford, and the people who built the Great Hall there. They day they completed it, they planted trees.
The reason was because the wood from those trees would be needed 100 years hence to replace the structural members.
Some forward thinking people there.
I assume youve read The Mosque of Notre Dame, a dystopian novel by a Russian author published a few years ago. I think its going to become a reality.
Yes. I do think that is why the Muslims are infiltrating our government: the United Caliphate States.
