reed13k, that was my understanding, too. So the fact that they’re armed, that’s an additional red flag that makes the whole thing seem odd. And the tweet made a point of mentioning that.
In the US, you wouldn’t mention that a cop was armed unless he was off duty or something. It would just be assumed that he was armed.

If they walk right into the Embassy with sidearms and the door is opened to them you have to assume it was requested. I assume that the Ecuadoran Embassy does not have a detachment of Soldiers and has to rely on the London police when there is a break in or something. Sure, probably just checking on J.A. to make certain he’s alright.
