I’m dying to get there for that once in a lifetime shot.

And not a peep from “moms against canyons” or camera Hogg.

For what it's worth, the one time I went to the Grand Canyon, I was unimpressed.
A boat ride around Manhattan was far more impressive.
To: BenLurkin
I’ve never been there. Would like to go there.
But by the time I arrange a tour, tragedies like this might force the park to gate everyone half a mile from the actual canyon. Are people taking Selfies and forget to hold on?
To: BenLurkin
I almost did, about 13 years back.
I was at the main lodge and stepped off the left stairs, to a walking trail into the canyon. The first step after the bottom stair was ice. I slipped and fell directly in place, at the foot of the stairs on the trail. There was no railing and I was literally a couple inches from body parts in air.
I carefully stood up and went back up the stairs.
Ive been back, since, but never near the edge.

The name and hometown of the man wasn’t immediately available.
They must know how people think. The first thing I did was check to see if it was another Asian tourist.

A spokeswoman said it was the first over-the-edge death this year at Grand Canyon National Park, which had 17 fatalities last year. Two people died at the Grand Canyon late last month...
How can it be the first when two others fell off the side, last month?
CBS is stupid.

The skywalk is worth going to, we also did the helicopter ride down into the canyon, I rode a mule down to the bottom in the 60’s with my family.

I sometimes wonder how many of these things are really suicides. Less embarrassing for the family. More acceptable to the insurance company. If you’re old and tired of life, just take a big vacation to a mountain or a canyon and just get a little clumsy.

The thing that impressed me about the GC was that you can just walk up to the edge and fall right in.
In this day and age of liberal bedwetting about pretty much everything, I couldn’t believe it.
To: BenLurkin
That’s enough. Just fill it in already.

Myself and two friends illegally camped near the rim back in 1973. We were 19 at the time, didn’t have much money and didn’t know any better. Sunrise at the Canyon was awesome.

I’m thinking: why doesn’t the Park Service post a photograph of the shattered corpses of these people just beside where they fell off the edge?
A before and after sort of thing...
