Hey, Cottonball, glad you are back! I have to tell you, you have my “nickname” last name.
My father was in his 70’s, and had had a couple major strokes, when I got married at 27. My future last name was a German name, similar to Cottonball. He queried me every day about how to say my new last name, and I would tell him. Finally, one day, close to my wedding day, I came to visit and he proudly announced, “Hello, Mrs. Cottonball!”. I never had to heart to correct him and the name stuck with many of my older (13) brothers and sisters to tease hubby and I.
