The grey green of the wall is an Antigue color. (One of the colonial shades made with a milk base.) Mustard and a soft red are also sometimes seen today. I have a YUGE cabinet in the red and small blanket chess in mustard. Both have their original paint.
The rugs use the dies/colors of ancient Iran. One of my friends has a rug her husbands family made. Still vibrant color. They use it for a wall hanging in the entry to their home. Hundreds of years old. Today hand made are extremely expensive. In colonial times they were goods purchased from the steamers who also brought spices and tea. Quite common in the “more established” upper crust homes.
