Redemption and second chances have long been superhero movie staples, and today it looks like life has imitated art. I’ve learned that Disney has reinstated James Gunn as the writer-director of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and I’ve confirmed it with Marvel and Gunn’s camp.
The decision to rehire Gunn –he was fired last July by Disney after alt-right journalists made public a fusillade of decade old social media missives that made light of pedophilia and rape — was one that was mulled and actually made months ago, following conversations with Disney studio leadership and the team at Marvel Studios. Why the change of heart? After the firing, Walt Disney Studios president Alan Horn met with Gunn on multiple occasions to discuss the situation. Persuaded by Gunn’s public apology and his handling of the situation after, Horn decided to reverse course and reinstate Gunn.

That’s silly and questionable taste Groundlings crap. Cheech and Chong, Elvira, Pee Wee Herman, Flo the Progressive Insurance Rep, the late great Phil Hartman and about a third of SNL’s better talent came through there.
I’d take note that Chris Pratt, who’s made a point of his Christianity against the Hollywood grain, backed Gunn and campaigned for his reinstatement. Along with practically everyone else who ever worked for the guy.

Did you read my post? I do NOT defend the garbage he wrote. It was sick and vile. There ia no doubt about that.
However it was what he WROTE (past tense) decades agi. He never acted on that amd he moved away from that vile person. Crucifying him for what he said years ago is overdoing it. One can condemn his words from years ago bit give him the chance to redeem himself
How do you know he “moved away?” Any adult who thinks that crap is funny is damaged beynd redemption. God will forgive, perhaps; I ain’t God.

And I always get irritated when people claim we should stop focusing on it simply because it happened years ago. What? Should we ignore what the USSR did to the Kulaks or all the people it massacred just because it happened a century ago? Or how about Kermit Gosnell’s involvement in the 1970s Mothers Day Massacre? Should we overlook that simply because it happened years ago?
If he has truly repented, he ought to demonstrate it, and more than just trying to delete tweets, I should add.
