Wife dragged me to see Green Book on the recommendation of some conservative friends. I was most pleasantly surprised, especially at Viggo’s acting, his physical transformation, and acquired accent.

To me that was the most dramatic transformation since Robert DeNiro put on about 60 pounds and got that huge gut to shoot a few scenes in Raging Bull.

I remember “Dead Men Walking”. The people who made the movie didn’t talk to any of the surviving victims and their families. Of course that was alright because they liked the truth about the monsters hide so their movie could make them victims.

“Boycott ALL movies . “

Except those by the likes of Clint Eastwood, John Milius etc.

If you watch TCM’s 31 days of Oscar you’ll see Hollywood almost always gives Oscar to crap

Why does he bring up the movie Crash?? Is he one of these liberals who were pissed that Crash beat Brokeback Mountain for best picture?

There was that controversy a few years back, but everybody who's followed Oscar for a while has a list of movies that they think shouldn't have won, and Crash doesn't seem to have been one of the better pictures to win.

Too overwrought and melodramatic? Too much in earnest about itself? Too contrived?

Looking back over the list of past winners, though, it strikes me as possible that this year's winner could be the best picture to win since The Departed or No Country for Old Men.

I haven't seen it yet, but the last few winners weren't all that great.

Seems like many of the winners really weren't all that good and Crash wasn't the worst by any means.

He still holds a grudge that a homosexual themed movies didn’t win the big prize??

I don't know how Justine self-identifies, but I suspect it's more about race than sexual preference.

“It reduces the long, barbaric and ongoing history of American racism to a problem, a formula, a dramatic equation that can be balanced and solved.”

In other words, history and a serious issue got the standard Hollyweird treatment. Nothing new under the sun.

Also, this reviewer sounds like he is living in the America of 1919, not 2019 (”ongoing history?”).

IOW, we don't want it solved and this pic shows everyone that it CAN be solved.......................

I agree! Loved S1, but S3 is better. Last nights finish was amazing.

Finally saw Green Book. Liked it. Didn’t know about Don Shirley. Ended up
reading more about him. Might download some songs. I have seen better Best Picture movies, however.
