“we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry”

I don’t consider rifles as legal weaponry except for home defense. How do you conceal carry one?

The restrictions you describe are Draconian.

Are you guys talking to your legislators about restoring your full right to armed?

How do women, the elderly and the infirm defend themselves when they are attacked while out in the public? Do they carry shotguns?

You live in the Derbyshire area? I lived in South and East Riding of Yorkshire.

My boys will be visiting Lindisfarne this summer.

Handguns are banned

And yet I'm willing to bet any Muzzie or Yob looking to cause trouble can go out into the streets of London and acquire one within the hour.

This one will be a pretty soft shooter. Good price too. You will need to clean it more frequently than the Mossberg though.

A majority of states have concealed carry, but with varying hoops to jump through that makes it easy in some but next to impossible in others.

But isn’t it illegal to use them for self defense?

What good is a gun for self-defense if the law prevents you from using it in that capacity?

No handguns, not semi-auto centerfire rifles ...

That's not "reasonable". That's tyranny.

“we have a reasonable choice of legal weaponry”

Absolute nonsense. You cannot own a handgun at home. You cannot carry a handgun on your person. You cannot defend yourself with your shotgun. Is it at your home? I think not. It's at your gun club, isn't it?

Britain is a nation of CONQUERED PEOPLE, and it happened when you gave up your handguns and your right to carry. Slaves are disarmed. Free people are not.

If you can't own and carry a handgun, and you can't own and carry a semi-automatic rifle in a useful caliber, then you have been disarmed by your own government. Free people have the right to defend themselves against any sort of threat, including tyrannical governments. The firearms you are able to own are not up to that task.

Of course I am not surprised by your situation. There is a reason the people who left Britain in the 1700s and before decided to split off and form their own country.

Even though you have been disarmed, and lack any kind of reasonable access to firearms, and your laws are from our point of view ridiculous, we still share many common areas of interest.

“Handguns are banned (unfortunately),...”

And, unfortunately, we aren’t go to give you any of our hundreds of millions the next go around like we did the last. I love you Brits but despise your left wing politicans and governments almost as much as ours.

I am encouraged to see that even in this extreme fun control country some arms are allowed. Hope things loosen up for you.

I have two Mossberg 500s. One is a 16 gauge. So there!

(kinda hard to carry concealed...)

I remember when British citizens could own handguns, registered of course. Then came the Dunblane murders and an excuse to confiscate the registered guns.
A-s-s-ault rifles, common in England, and registered, were banned, confiscated, and tube fed shotguns and .22 rifles had their magazines crimped so no more than just a few rounds could be loaded. One gunsmith lamented as he crimped a shotgun as this was not why he became a gunsmith, to destroy perfectly good firearms.

Going back farther, the government was so worried about “REDS” that they fabricated a reason, “CRIME!” in 1919, to start registering guns.

After Dunkirk, so few firearms were in Britain that they asked Americans to “Send a Gun To Defend A British Home!” No doubt if the Nazis had invaded, the British citizenry would have met them on the beaches armed with those great old military weapons of the commoners. the Hay Rake, scythe, and Pitch fork.

I looked at that site, there's a lot of expensive stuff there. I do like the term 'sound mitigation'.

But how much can you use? I'm reminded of the lyrics, My Maserati does 185, I lost my license, now I don't drive'.

****reasonable choice of legal weaponry, including Accuracy International sniper rifles if you have £23K to spare....****

Reasonable choice would be $300 and “face to face” transaction....without government. 23K ($32,200) is not “reasonable”.

No criticism of you personally, but after your country’s experience at the beginning of WWII, one would think that England would be more like Norway when it comes to firearms laws. I guess there is a difference to being almost invaded and actually having been invaded and subjugated.
The US had much stricter firearms laws 50 years ago then today. But it became apparent that the only ones obeying those laws were the law abiding. The citizens felt like sheep and the “rights” of the wolves were being protected by the sheep dogs. Now, after a lot of work to change laws, we can defend our homes and person. The only dangerous places now are “Gun Free Zones”.
