Good thing those folks are smarter than the rest of us or I’d be scared.

Here in AL, we have your first 3 plus bathroom paper! My daughter and her family lived in Seattle for many years. She said the drivers up there are as bad as the ones here when it snows or when there are icy streets.

Lived in Western WA for 11 years, always got a huge laugh when Seattle went belly=up on the rare snowy day because natives have no clue how to drive in it.

Now I’m in Eastern Washington, where it actually gets cold and snows every winter. We’re in for about two weeks of seriously rotten weather. Today was our good day with sunshine and temps about 11 - 18 along with massive blowing and no help from the city in clearing streets. .I’m within crawling distance of three stores, including Trader Joe. So what did I stock up on?

Brandy, coffee, protein powder, kittie litter (spoiled rotten girl only uses Feline Pine from Trader), gluten-free cookies. I have a freezer full of veggies and meat, enough for at least 2 weeks. If the power goes out, frozen stuff can sit on the porch. Got good at this a few years ago when power was out for 9 days and temps were never above 20.

Amazing - if that red van had just stayed stopped the first time it would have been fine. (Well -until the next idiot looked down the hill and said “oh - I can do it.)

I think this was the same storm where the school bus went off the road and was dangling off the bridge or embankment. Luckily it didn’t go over the edge, and all the kids on board were okay.

Watching the news, they said the city doesn’t use salt on the roads because it pollutes the water.

My son (12 at the time) pondered that for a moment and then said “But Puget Sound is saltwater anyway. That doesn’t make any sense.”

Since 2002 they have been using salt on the roads.

“Yeah and if a person doesn’t have a couple of days worth of food at home as a routine thing, they’re pretty much a lost cause anyway. Especially if they have children.”

Yep. Nothing in my house. The cupboards are bare and there’s an old apple and candy bar in the fridge. So you folks looking for eats best just move on unless you want a load of buckshot to fill your belly.

Hey! You can also freeze milk or half and half! Not quite as good as fresh, but beats not having any, at all :)

You can buy boxed milk. No need for refrigeration until opened. I usually keep a box in the pantry as well as a huge bottle of Coffeemate. I can’t drink my coffee without some kind of creamer or milk in it.

I keep Coffee Mate for emergencies. I just need milk for my coffee....like you.

Born and raised in Upstate NY, I'm always well prepared for winter and emergencies.

No candles anymore for electric outages. Have a great florescent lamp that lights up a room.

And we have a Town Center with heat, coffee, beds....whatever we need.

We had a 50 degree swing in 24 hours. From -10 to 40. And then it got cold again, and then warm. Our roads are already starting to look like a moonscape.

It’s gonna be an interesting motorcycle season this spring.

That’s what I’m thinking. We get snow in most of Mo all the time. Perhaps because the people at Fort Leonardwood (Fort Lost in the Woods)are from different areas of the US. People here are used to snow but still, go to a store before a big storm and sometimes they are low on milk and bread I’ve heard.

“All it takes is a an inch of snow to turn the doofs into ersatz preppers.”

And then they’ll watch the show and LAUGH at the people who stock up to be ready for a ‘bad day’.

How is that boxed milk? I bought some once but was afraid to drink it. Ended up tossing it.
