They will be state legislators. There is no ‘convention’, that is a slur against the movement. Enemies of the movement call it a ‘Constitutional Convention’; it is not.
What it is, is a communication protocol among state legislators to meet and agree on topics and language for amendments. The state legislators involved are by and large much, much more trustworthy than any legislator in Congress. They are closer to the people and they are more conservative in general.
Article V allows for amendments to be proposed either by Congress or by states. The President can propose to Congress but it is not formal, not recognized by the National Archives until it is submitted either by Congress or by 2/3’s of state legislatures.
Ratification can occur either by states or by state assemblies of state residents ‘citizens’. There is a precedent to this in the 17th Amendment. But the pols at the time in DC saw this as a threat to their power and told state legislators that they would ‘honor the wishes’ of the states and take it in-house to Congress. Once Congress took over, they reworded the intent of the people of the states to give us the 17th Amendment which destroyed state power in Congress.
Here’s an important takeaway should someone decide to join and support the Article V movement, DO NOT ALLOW CONGRESS TO WRESTLE AWAY FROM THE STATE LEGISLATORS THE PROPOSED AND INTENDED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS.
Note that the National Archives plays a very important role here.
Two paths to the National Archives (NA):
++++> 2/3s State Legislatures send application to NA
++++> 2/3s both chambers of Congress send application to NA
Congress views the first pathway to the NA above as a threat to their power. State legislators are more conservative and closer to the people than is Congress. Whenever the first pathway makes news, it is slammed and maligned as radical and dangerous.
In the Article V process the President is bypassed, never in the loop unless the White House asks Congress to consider a proposal written by the WH.
I forgot to mention that Candidate Trump came out publicly in favor of states using Article V to amend the Constitution. He’s on record as supporting the movement.
> “ I PREFER the 2/3 of both houses. You have your opinion, and I have mine.”
I am sorry to inform you that your opinion does not matter, it carries no weight. The states have almost reached the number necessary to formally propose amendments, they are almost there and are waiting for a few more legislative chambers to wrap up their inclusion.
The first of the amendments has already been drafted and will deal with a balanced budget.
You are too late to stop it.
Enjoy your fixation with DC legislators while they think they have the power.
National media is going all “Al/Tipper Gore Make-out” for the post game “smooch”.
...that maybe wasn’t really a smooch...
...freeze-frame...
Ah, but I think you (and I) missed a very patriotic statement and excellent rendition of the National Anthem by the no-Pips Gladys Knight. Saw it on UT, tho.
That’s all well and good but, in this “modern” era, (post-enlightenment) the only way this will work is if the State legislators (and the people who vote them into office) committed to ending their acceptance of the Federal government as a resolver of all things bad (nanny state federalism).
If you look at the re-districting referendum here in Michigan, you will see how such things are manipulated so that government is seen as the great problem fixer.
Why doesn’t your wife get up and take care of the dog?
Aha, all clear now, plan is to tie up SCOTUS.
I totally agree about PP.
If (imho, when) RvW is overturned, abortion should be legally classified as murder and those practicing it should be arrested. That would bring abortuaries to a screeching halt.
I heard of that. I am sure it will pop up on You Tube.

And there is no statute of limitations on murder.
Redistricting for federal offices has no effect on state districts. Most people barely know who their state legislator is. When they actually take the time to call them, they often discover they are a neighbor or someone close to them. Far different than a bought and paid for stooge in DC.
The first state proposed amendment concerns a balanced budget. It is well-written. The people in the process are good people. If you like any of the conservatives on FR, you would probably like these state legislator folks even more.
I am aware that the states will likely go full steam ahead. I hope it all works out for the best, but remain skeptical.
Enjoy your illusion that things will be better than the founding fathers provided. I suspect the product will be inferior.
Yes, there are prominent persons including MDs and elected officials now calling late-term abortion ‘infanticide’ which it is. It’s murder of the innocent. So you are right, it will be prosecuted as murder (there are people in the recent headlines who are judges, law enforcement, lawyers affirming that).
Further, there are laws on the books that pin late-term abortion as murder and anyone abetting the crime as an accomplice. MDs performing late-term abortion can be arrested according to federal statutes. State statutes don’t matter in this.
Well, you misinterpreted.
I was pointing to the ^process^ employed here in Michigan for the referendum.
It can be summed up in one sentence: “The Democrats have thought this through and it is obvious to everyone, and the consensus is clear; this is the ONLY solution to our problem.”
The State of the Union is nigh
Our anticipation is really quite high
But I do expect, Trump will get no respect
They dont even give it a try
Our President will enter the room
On one side youll see lots of gloom
Our folks will all cheer, the Dems will all sneer
And Nancy will fly in on her broom
Hell tout his success to this date
And hell say that our Union is great
The economy is booming and new policies hes grooming
But all youll see is a room filled with hate
Nancy will sit up behind
With that face thats all wrinkled and lined
Shell only just scowl; her disposition is foul
His ideas will all be declined
Chuckie will peer oer his glasses
As Trump reaches out to the masses
Illegals must be banned; our guys cheer and stand
But the Dems will sit on their asses
They dont even know what hell say
But already theyre saying nay
Its really quite sad; thing have gotten this bad
I hope things get better some day
I still hang my hopes on our Q
And he soon gives us a new clue
That the ends drawing near; let it happen this year
And our Countrys united anew
Me too. I didn’t watch the game. I sometimes watch the Cardinals play baseball. Used to go watch my girls play basketball. Not much on the sports for me.
I watch cooking shows, history channel, discovery stuff like that. I do still watch NCIS and TWD. Fox Business is my news channel.
Succession goes to the AG if the AG is eligible to be Governor. I can't find anything beyond that. Fairfax is currently under investigation for sexual harassment.
If a vacancy exists in the office of Lieutenant Governor when the Lieutenant Governor is to succeed to the office of Governor or to serve as Acting Governor, the Attorney General, if he is eligible to serve as Governor, shall succeed to the office of Governor for the unexpired term or serve as Acting Governor. If the Attorney General is ineligible to serve as Governor, the Speaker of the House of Delegates, if he is eligible to serve as Governor, shall succeed to the office of Governor for the unexpired term or serve as Acting Governor. If a vacancy exists in the office of the Speaker of the House of Delegates or if the Speaker of the House of Delegates is ineligible to serve as Governor, the House of Delegates shall convene and fill the vacancy.
The AG is next in line after the LT Gov...as long as he is eligible to serve as Governor.
> “Enjoy your illusion that things will be better than the founding fathers provided.”
The founding fathers provided the process being undertaken right now by states.
Let that sink in.
It was the founding fathers that voted for that which you oppose.
Col. George Mason is in the archives of Congress as stating exactly that Congress could not always be trusted and that a second pathway was needed to check power in Congress. He led the delegates to revise and affirm Article V. The founding fathers voted for it.
The few who oppose the process are somehow thinking they are on the side of the founding fathers by opposing what the founding fathers themselves crafted for states to have as a process to bypass Congress.
Your argument goes like this:
“I oppose this process because I trust the founding fathers who created the process but it doesn’t matter they created the thing because I oppose it and that’s because I trust them and it will be better to rely on them than to rely on what they created”. WTH?
Boy, are such people confused.
Constitutional scholars can pray that such confused persons take their confusion to someone else on the internet that thinks Article V which is a part of the Constitution that preceded the Bill of Rights and by which the Bill of Rights exists and could not exist without it, is actually a danger to the Constitution. I’m sure there are support groups online for confused souls who don’t know the history nor understand the Constitution, yet claim they somehow know while inventing things out of whole cloth to support their confused thinking. It makes one dizzy just to follow such sad people.
I LOVE football. But they ruined it when they politicized it. Now I can’t watch it even if I wanted to. They ruined it for me forever I am afraid. Seems since Q, there are a lot of things that I will never be able to view again in the same way. It is OK, that is my contribution to the cause.
