That CFO of the tech company is well-connected (I think maybe daughter of CEO of Huawei), so the Chinese were starting to “take action” (detain) Canadians in China in a move to leverage her freedom. Interesting that Canada hung on to her, despite retaliation against Canadians in China, given prior relations between US and Canada (i.e., things have CHANGED re US/Canadian relations, the state of the DS in Canada, if they’d hold her for the US).

Upon reflection, I agree with you. They can only do the Weekend At Ruthie’s thing for so long (maybe a month or so), but not for a year.
