The case that was made is that you shouldn’t confirm a justice in the last year of a lame duck presidency. Trump won’t be in that situation for another 5 years

Excellent point. I hadn't considered the lame duck part and was worried they derps would try to pull that one. They will probably try anyway, but McConnell can and will sluff that one off like a patch of dandruff off his ill-fitting suit.

McConnell can (and likely will given the chance) push the confirmation process through if it presents itself.

Agreed.

The derps actually tried to make the claim that Kavanaugh shouldn’t be considered during an election year. Any election, not necessarily the president. They blur the issue to get their supporters nodding their heads, but even if you follow tradition, off year elections are different than presidential year elections, which are different than the election that ends a presidents second term (lame duck).

The reality is that if they have control of the Senate, they will take whatever course the advances their position, tradition be damned. Republicans should do the same.

Hopefully before the 34(33 plus I think, Arizona) senate seats up for election in 2020 go into campaign mode. maybe get Alabama back and lose Colorado and if Collins retires, maybe lose Maine.
