One of the most severe cold air outbreaks in years is possible from the Upper Midwest to the Northeast next week as the jet stream crashes south and a large lobe of the polar vortex plunges toward the Great Lakes.

Haven’t a clue, but probably as cold as the “little ice age*”.

I happen to think (as a layperson, but one who can read and think) that the good professor is correct - it will only get colder over time (”time” as it is important to us humans who generally live for less than a mere century).

You don’t even have to go back that far. Just a few years ago (like 10), some scientists found a bunch of abandoned Viking settlements in Greenland which became visible/accessible due to the glaciers melting back a bit. They were abandoned because it got so cold that crops wouldn’t grow...but BEFORE that, it was warm there. So warm that it was called “GREENland” - meaning that it was GREEN, i.e. there was abundant plant life there (and I don’t think that Leif Ericson was pulling a real estate scam on the rest of the Vikings...it isn’t a real wise move to screw a bunch of huge guys with swords).

Anyhow, WHY WAS IT WARM IN GREENLAND 1,000 years ago? Surely not because fleets of SUVs were causing global warming. Maybe it had something to do with that big, yellow orb in the sky? If so, we should tell the Leftist snowflakes to go there and tax it for contributing to Global Warming...they can land there at night, when it isn’t so hot. :>)

Changes in one day. Next Wed. here in MA it is sppsd to be 42 for the high, and the next day 19. Went from 8 last Monday to 42 on Wed. Whatever, to God be the glory, who knows best.
