A controversial academic today risked to wrath of Britain's veterans and their families after calling the RAF airmen who bombed Nazi Germany war criminals.
Dr Kehinde Andrews, a professor of black studies at Birmingham City University, said the decision to build tributes like the Bomber Command Memorial desecrated with white paint yesterday was like 'justifying terrorism'.
He said: ‘We are talking about a war crime. I think it is a tragedy they died, but we don’t need a statue.’
His extraordinary statements came on ITV's Good Morning Britain today where host Piers Morgan asked him: 'Why do you see everything that we are proud of as sticks to beat our country with? Sometimes you have to stand up and fight'.

Maybe the guy doesn’t realize that London was bombed and 40,000 to 43,000 of residents in the city were laid six feet under. As for the Germans....all they had to do was surrender and the bombing raids on Germany would have come to an end.
Is he talking about the fire bombing of Dresden?
That war was fought with different rules.
Andrews would have enemy soldiers convicted in court before you could shoot them....
They killed white people, so what’s his problem?
Indiscriminately bombing civilians was awful. I’m not going to say it was anything but.
That said, it was not defined as a war crime at the time by any of the conventions of war to which the warring powers were signatories.
A second point is that the Axis started it. They bombed Warsaw, Rotterdam, Shanghai, London, Coventry and lots of other places on a large scale before the Allies started returning the favor on Axis cities. Its horrible for the civilians in those cities but their own regimes are to blame for it.
One Dambuster left. One Doolittle Raider left. WW2 is rapidly moving from living history to the history books.
Sounds like the clymer was calling all British WWII bombing as a war crime.
Rotterdam also comes to mind.
It is OK by him for Nazi atrocities, centuries of religious cleansing by the Muslims and others because the crusades and defense or the free world were mostly by Christians. Kinda shows the mindset of the talking heads.

Dresden, breast-out lactation activists, and a few other subjects here bring out the worst in some of us.
That’s completely sick. Bomber command had some of the most heroic people in World War II, and suffered some of the most horrendous losses as they hammered nazis. RAF Bomber command losses were about 45% dead.

I also point out what the Nazis did to many of the citizens of Warsaw even before they leveled the city.
If only fallout wouldn’t have spread throughout the continent, I would have nuked the bastards.
The UK is gone. Take a good. This will be the US in maybe 5 years if it is not stopped.
What the Nazi’s did during WWII was reprehensible.
At Nuremberg Goering made the same argument re. RAF BC and Mighty 8th.
Oh, there are plenty of Brits who think this way. They hate Bomber Harris. I guess they would have all preferred for Hitler to rule over them, I guess.
As I’ve said in other threads. Ask the younger people in your family, under 40, what they think of America, do they consider themselves to be Americans and would they fight to defend the country. Be prepared for their answers. The country is already lost, we just haven’t turned off the lights yet.
