Greenlands enormous ice sheet is melting at such an accelerated rate that it may have reached a tipping point, and could become a major factor in sea-level rise around the world within two decades, scientists said in a study published on Monday.
The Arctic is warming at twice the average rate of the rest of the planet, and the new research adds to the evidence that the ice loss in Greenland, which lies mainly above the Arctic Circle, is speeding up as the warming increases. The authors found that ice loss in 2012 was nearly four times the rate in 2003, and after a lull in 2013-14, it has resumed.
The study is the latest in a series of papers published this month suggesting that scientific estimates of the effects of a warming planet have been, if anything, too conservative. Just a week ago, a separate study of ice loss in Antarctica found that the continent is contributing more to rising sea levels than previously thought.
Another new analysis suggested that the oceans are warming far faster than earlier estimates. Warming oceans are currently the leading cause of sea-level rise, since water expands as it warms.

About 900 years ago it was warm enough in Greenland to grow grapes. We do have some abilities in tracking past sea levels.
Someone could have looked it up!
Thanks EdnaMode. And, no, it isn't. Twenty years ago the Slimes also pushed the "North Pole Ice melts first time in millions of years" meme, including an appearance AFTER it was retracted. The whole Grey Liar lies all the time, and pushes the DNC talking points all the time. That's the only thing it does.

How many decades have we heard these kind of stories?
Greenland actually was warmer before-before around 1000 AD when the Little Ice Age started that is-the Vikings built at least one settlement there-then abandoned the whole place when the ice came back...
But I guess the global warming crowd have never looked into the climate history of the place...
Leif was the son of Erik the Red, the founder of the first Norse settlement in Greenland and of Thjodhild (Þjóðhildur), both of Norwegian origin
Around A.D. 1000
Where is the ‘Not this sh*t again’ gif?
Shhh! We’re gonna spoil their chicken little rant...
Maybe Iceland is gaining ice.

Ain't no puzzle. The earth below is warmeer.
So Greenland is going to flip over the way Guam did? Amazing.
I want these “scientists” names. We need to keep tabs on their prediction track records so we can weed out the frauds.
Where do these folks possibly think it got its name Greenland from?
“tipping point”. sounds super scary and irreversible. they’re going to keep ratcheting up the hysteria factor until they finally hit the “simply **cked point”
How many tipping points does this make? Two dozen at least.
John Schwarz is probably the least qualified person on earth to write this. Where I live (on the ocean), the tide has recently been lower than I can ever remember. How does that happen when sea levels are rising?
That is what ice does it melts. Glaciers recede, that is what they have been doing since the ice age....Nothing we can do to stop it.
Note to self: Order rubber boots in early 2039.
“may have”
