Well, this seems to have become an annual event. Alone on Christmas Eve, reaching out to my fellow FReepers.
Myself, I have my daughter's hermit crab for company. And some great classical Christmas music. And, a little later, George Bailey and friends via BluRay.
Anyone else spending this evening solo?
Enjoy the tranquility with your best friend, and have a Merry Christmas!!
that’s cool. The bear with the drum should be “The Drummer Boy”. ;)
Don’t give up. Really. Don’t.
Sometimes, God comes through in the moment we least expect. I’ve seen it over and over.
All of us go through times when we think that out lives serve only as negative examples for others (this is what NOT to do, folks ...) but those times pass. No one is too broken for God to hear. No one.
That sounds really good! Merry Christmas!
True.
I was stopped 20 times today at the supermarket. Some women—women in thier 40s and 50s want his number.
It is crazy. Even a 40-something black woman wanted his number.
Sorry about your wife:( I got sick yesterday and left work early with a fever so am alone tonight. Although my corgi is here curled up with me. The fever broke finally but am staying in with soup and rolls.
Hope your wife gets better asap. Merry Christmas to you both.
Not alone but feel for those who are. No one is ever really alone when they have Christ. Also, when I am alone, nothing I like better than watching an old Columbo episode or something from the 60s or 70s or Cheers, Taxi, etc. Takes me back to when days were better......
Youtube has one of my favorite episodes of Columbo ever right now too...free:

The broken ones are his favorite ones. He is closest to them. You are not alone. He is there with you.
That’s silly.
Wife travels to our kids for Christmas to see grandkids.
But someone has to stay behind to tend the cows and newborn calves on our farm. We've had 3 already and are expecting 16 more before it's over.
I don't mind. I'm 71 and used to being by myself on the farm. Somebody's got to do it.
I did chores today and some maintenance on the big tractor. This evening I'll watch some TV and read my book. Just a regular day for me.
Well some of the old links failed this year so I hurriedly found new one that are working. I realized only later I got two of them misplaced. I’ll correct all of them later.
Never alone at FreeRepublic, FRiend.
I’m not actually alone, as my daughter now lives with me. But I lost my dear husband quite suddenly -—a year ago on the 31st. I feel alone without him after 60 years of togetherness. Christmas Eve is a thoughtful time this year.
But tomorrow there will be others, so I am lucky.
Just another Monday night.
Sure, “alone” on Christmas Eve, which is actually, for me, the calm before the storm. I’m wondering how in heck I’m ever going to get all these presents in the car tomorrow morning. I had one arrive today that I was told wouldn’t be here until the 28th, so somebody is getting a double Christmas present tomorrow. Got some presents to deliver to the neighbor who blew the snow off my driveway this morning while I was still suiting up to do it myself. Fresh download of the Vienna Boys’ Choir on the stereo. FR on the ‘puter. Life alone can be very good, my FRiend! Best to you and to all here. God loves you. Merry Christmas!
Does the crab have a name?
In a sense yes. I have intractable excruciating pain while everyone else is happy as hell. My two dogs are the only ones I can relate to. Most miserable Christmas ever.
Oh my.
I am so sorry for your loss.
I know of a woman who lost her husband and one of her sons on the 23rd. Just awful.
She was obviously never the same.
This was some years ago now. Poor soul.
You’re never alone when you have a yorkie!!! We are just ready to have ChChristmas eve antipasto, join us! (In spirit..)
And in your case, a hermit crab....
Make call and let the Santa tracker entertain you.
