If the police and military are loyal to him -- and the EU -- Macron will survive. Thousands will be shot down in the streets. If the police and military turn on him, prepare for a 6th Republic.

My concern is that if the 5th Republic falls, Germany will invade to preserve it and EU control.

Hard to say. Some military who possess the last bit of French nationalism and regard for le gloire may be ready to take him down, but there is no way of telling if they constitute the majority. France has been the core of the EU, along with Germany, for a long time. The military has been indoctrinated.

My concern is that EU troops -- read "German troops" -- will be "asked in" by Macron to keep the 5th Republic in power and France in the EU.
