The modern crop of “journalists” are juveniles. They are celebrities, but can’t hold a candle to the old investigative reporter, so they “virtue signal”.
As for FOX, they were virtue signaling. Key words were in the FAUX statement.. “free press”, “access” and “exchange of ideas”.

Everybody knows the WH Press Corp is a rowdy mob obviously playing district attorney, adjudicating their case against the president and/or Sarah Sanders. In a Grand Jury setting, jurors hear only the prosecutor’s case. This setting is their model. Their behavior bears that out.
