Bob why are we talking about EMP’s? Was there a threat that I missed?

I don’t recall exactly how it started, but I think it was talking about food storage and morphed into EMP - my fault.
From what I have read, the USA is a sitting duck for an EMP whether from man made or a Carrington type event. I had just been reading a scientific article about a corneal mass among other things, so prepping was on my mind.
Thread slide went from food to prepping to EMP prepping.

Mairdie was talking about archiving a hard drive in a Bank Vault. Bob was telling her it was not permanent. Texokie asked about whether her drive or memory sticks would be safe from EMP in a bank vault. There were some posts regarding archive media that turned into an EMP protection question.

Ummmmmmm I have to confess.... I really think I’m the culprit.
I wrote a piece on archiving computer files. Mairdie told us about archiving backups in a bank vault. I wondered if bank vaults are EMP faraday cages. Ensued a conversational mudslide of epic proportions.... about EMPs, and then to prepping in general....to which greeneyes contributed mightily! (for which I’m very grateful!)

OK Thanks. Prepping is good. We have talked about it and have done some. Hopefully never needed.
