Explain it to me, please.
Every day will start with a lecture by Nancy Pelosi.
Gridlock. With the senate having a larger Republican majority it will get nowhere. The President will be in his element. Will be fun to watch.
Doesn’t work that way. Bills in the current Congress have to be passed by both houses in the current Congress, or else the process starts all over in 2019.
Not if the democrat spend the next two years investigating him. With the help if the media they will turn the suburban women against him big time. Then the Democrats just have to run someone somewhat sensible to woo them. Be very afraid.
The GOP lost the House when John McCain torpedoed Obamacare repeal. At that point the GOP Congress owned healthcare. Exit polls show it was the number one issue for voters. After the failure of repeal the GOP Congress ignored it while prices continued to escalate and the quality of care continued to decline. Dems picked up on this issue and quietly used it to their advantage.
The GOP also lost the House because it did not deliver on immigration. Paul Ryan wouldnt allow the wall to be funded in the annual appropriations bill or be fully funded in a special appropriation.
Third they failed to explain how the tax cuts were driving economic prosperity.
Ultimately the GOP Congress was perceived by voters as doing nothing on the issues that most mattered. It did nothing to excite the base and it was perceived as ineffective by independents and Democrats. Then an abnormal number of GOP members decided to retire. The power of incumbency was lost in those districts and many flipped.
How could the House have been saved? This was the year to bring back Newt Gingrichs Contract for America. Instead the leadership decided to run a defensive game with no message. It left the president it wouldt support carrying the ball by himself.
Gridlock. House can pass whatever they want, it won’t be passed in senate. Veto in play also
Repubs never had a majority in the House when Reagan was Pres.
Reagan/Repubs lost the Senate in 1986 we he/they went along with that amnesty debacle.
Trump will roll over. He will tweet and that is about it. He needed to start arresting the traitors first thing but did nothing for 2 years. People notice that all he did was whine / tweet. Where were the national televised speeches? None.
Now he will tweet that he cannot do anything. We were rolled by him.
Yes, good riddance. Now, hopefully Democrats pass over Pelosi. But who maybe as the alternative?
Don’t give up so easy. There is still declassification of the FISA warrants and some 50,000+ sealed indictments. Trump could start rolling this stuff out tomorrow!
Paul Ryan gets to smile, on CNN + MSNBC for the next 2 years as he becomes the Leftist elitist scum he has been for years. That S.O.B. deserves nothing but misery for being so Rotten!
In a Perfect World, that would happen, but (Skunk) Paul Ryan will not allow it to happen.
...they will turn the suburban women against him big time.
More than they were against him today. The emotional gal vote has been hurting America since 19A.
Been saying that for some time now.
They all become mueller
It will benefit trump greatly
Now hell have the media and demoncats after him on everything
The public will see it for what it is
Depends on the margin. Trump can take 3 to 5 votes from Pelosi whenever he wants.
Will be fun stuff.
Well, spending bills must originate in the house, but the senate will be a solid 55ish majority, so either democrats get noting ( killed in the senate) or they play ball and get some things while compromising on others. Trump will not have to veto a whole lot as the senate will filter most legislation out or make it agreeable to his agenda. Pelosi just said a line about infrastructure, economy and the like, it seemed as if she copied and pasted Trumps speech from last night, minus the illegal immigration portion
Expect republican represenatives to play fairly tough with anything not bipartisan, as a show of force for the next election cycle.
I place the blame for the loss of the house squarely on the GOP obstructionists over the last 2 years ( almost). Trump should have seen fast tracked bills to build the wall, close the illegals problem, get laws passed that restructured the asylum process etc. Now we are about to enter a do-nothing congress, once again.
The up side- a strong senate majority to confirm appointees of any and every sort w/o relying on the weak statist few who got the glory over the last minute Kavanaugh debacle. The house has no real power in that matter.
The enemies of the US will test our resolve over China and the ME/Israel.
Mobs will mess up cities some more, it is what the new norm for the leftists is, Hillary will be wondering....uncivilly.
The deep state is a big concern- they dragged butt for months, years over providing documents on Hillary, Russia, etc, bet now they have files packed and ready to go....
But they won’t impeach, for the senate won’t convict....
Too bad we (seem to have) lost the house for now, but after next two years of BS and waste fraud and abuse, the next half of the congress critters are up for another round.
Long run, Trump appoints one or even two more SCOTUS Justices...., Dems wallow around proving the only thing they have is malice and aforethought towards the POTUS, no legislative ability. Senate makes kill shots on everything the house moans about and send across the building.
Sigh.
Thanks ryan...you putz.
The question is how many GOPe House members would cross over to give her bipartisan cover?
