A white woman who was filmed blocking a black man from entering the St. Louis loft building where they live has denied that she is racist and says she was concerned for her safety.
Hilary Brooke Thornton, 32, was fired from her job as a realtor after footage of her confronting D'Arreion Toles at their luxury condo building in Missouri City went viral.
Toles said he was coming home from work on Friday night when Thornton physically blocked him from entering.
The 24-year-old filmed the incident as Thornton, who was holding a glittery phone and her dog on a leash, demanded to know what apartment he lived in.

Does appear to be a bad white women trend going on. Democrats must really want to lose the midterms. They are even alienating the center left soccer moms.
The employing broker was up between a rock and a hard place. He could get sanctions up to and including a license revocation if he permitted someone committing a discriminatory act remain on staff. Few are likely to take that risk.
She needs a lawyer. Her employer fired her for following the rules. This guy set her up, videotaped it, and made himself look like a victim.
“He could get sanctions up to and including a license revocation if he permitted someone committing a discriminatory act remain on staff. Few are likely to take that risk. “
They had no choice but to fire her.
Nope.
The gentleman buzzed himself in... if the woman was scared she could have done any number of things from calling police on her phone or at least apologizing once he put HIS KEY IN HIS DOOR to let himself into HIS HOME.
She tailed him for almost 5 minutes in the original video... just a bunch of stupid drama.
SHe opened the door, and he tried to come in. If she lets him in, and he robs someone, she is an accessory to the crime.
She had every right to ask him to show that he had the key to that door, assuming her story is true — and nothing in the video or what the guy said suggests otherwise (He says something about having been “buzzed in”, which would also indicate that he had no key. Not sure why he would have gotten “buzzed in” if she had the door propped open already, so I’m not completely buying either story at this point).
According to her, the condo had REQUESTED that people be responsible for this security.
So after all that she called police... after what we know about Brett Kavanaugh that man would probably be in jail if he didn’t shoot video.
Surprise, surprise.
“According to her, the condo had REQUESTED that people be responsible for this security.”
Unfortunately, I’m quite familiar with condo HOA’s and by-laws.
An HOA would be stupid to direct owners to forcibly stop would-be intruders.
Their lawyers would never approve of such a rule.
Its the only indicator any resident has that they live in the building and he wouldnt answer me. He would not show me one, she said.
According to her story, she propped the door open, she saw him try to get in, and she asked if he had the key, and he refused to show one.
She does not say she saw him pull out the fob and try to open the door, or that she heard the door click. It is possible that he actually DID "buzz himself in", that she missed it, and just ASSUMED that he had not because she had propped the door open.
But there is nothing in her story that suggests that her perception was invalid, or of malice. It is believable that she propped the door open, saw him try to go through it, asked to see his key fob so she knew he was allowed in the building, and he refused to show it to her, instead choosing to make this into a hostile race-baiting incident.
Just as I am always on the lookout now for SJWs, especially female, to post things in the hopes that guys say the wrong thing and they can destroy them, I am now thinking white women better be on the lookout for people who SEEM to be civil, but in fact are race-baiting for fun and giggles.
I've noticed this too...I think they're building up to or trying to imply that if you're a white woman and vote for Trump that that you're a racist...or something like that.
If she propped the door open, she must not be all that concerned about the security of her fellow tenants in the building.
I doubt they said “forcibly stop”, but I completely believe that they told residents they were responsible for not letting their access be used by people they did not know.
It’s a common problem, especially where you can buzz people in — some stranger buzzes every apartment, saying they have a package, hoping that one of the residents will just buzz them in without asking questions.
In general, we want people to be civil, and if this guy had simply decided to treat the woman as a fellow human being who was only trying to do “the right thing”, he could easily have assauged her fears, and shown her his key, introduced himself, and they would no longer be strangers.
Instead, he decided that this would be a fun time to ruin her life. So he just barged past her, filming the whole thing, got her fired from her job, she’ll probably lose her apartment, and the world thinks she’s a racist.
Her reference to “safety” seems stupid to me, as she did not act for her safety.
But I propped a front door open when moving stuff around, just last week, because constantly using the key is annoying.
And if I had seen someone run up to the door and try to go in, I’d have to ask them if they actually had the key (this is not my apartment, but a friends where i was fixing a water leak and cleaning out some trash).
Geez do you even RTFA or do you get paid by the post to troll here?
She said she had the front door cracked to let her dog use the bathroom when Toles approached and tried to get into the building.
This had nothing to do with her work and she was following building security protocol.
The company 'profiled' HER as a racist.
Yep. This is a case of racists calling another person a racist.
“This had nothing to do with her work and she was following building security protocol.”
I doubt the HOA security protocol requires that tenants and owners physically block people they do not know from entering their units.
Exactly.....she stepped into what she had no business doing...esepcially once the guy told her he had a right to be there and had buzzed in.
I get so sick of women today thinking they’re now the security mothers of the nation! They’re not!
I used to have a condo in a gated community in Arizona and piggy-backed in through the gate behind the car of one of the neighbors from the other side of the complex. He stopped short, got out of his car and asked me if I lived there and which unit was mine. I told him the details, then thanked him for being a good neighbor to be concerned about safety and security. All was well and proper. No problem, no anger, no viral video crap.
People need to learn to be more civil and stop seeking out reasons to be offended.
