Probably designed by the same geniuses who designed that pedestrian bridge in Florida.

Not a resume enhancer for that construction company.
Best to look elsewhere for the next builders.

There’s no way that is completely new structure. The pilings look new but that bridge deck, girders, and railings look like they were existing. Looks like they just put new pilings under it.

“The company did not build a bridge to fall over. We sure didn’t buy a bridge to fall over,” Hicks said. “Nobody expected this.”

I don't even know how to mock this. It mocks itself.

Some years ago I worked with some Canadian aerospace engineers who all had steel pinkie rings. I asked about the rings and the engineers told me of the bridge that failed in Canada due to design issues years before. Graduating engineers from then on bought rings made from the bridge steel to remind them to verify all engineering and design principles so it wouldn’t happen again. Something tells me that these bridge engineers forgot what the rings were representing.

Imported building material or just Chinese construction techniques for saving money on construction?

Looks like pilings were not driven deep enough to support it

There is some sort of engineering competence collapse happening. It seems universal.

Engineering projects that could be easily done 50 years ago are failing.

I’ve posted about the Bay Bridge to Oakland before. Another Bay Area “engineering wonder” is here

Never forget that bridges are built by the lowest bidder.

I’m sure that the construction company and all of the engineers fully met the diversity standards including First Nations representation. Diversity and inclusion is the way to prevent bridge collapses.

“...said the bridge was built to Canadian standards ...”

That explains it....liberal (democrat) government...same ones who designed their health care system and gun laws.
