Which one, RC or MC? We need one definitive pick from each person. Just choose based on whatever is important to you—distance, place you’ve never been and want to see, etc.

No one has to commit to going at this time. Not everyone is going to make it. Not everyone is going to be free on the date we eventually pick. Something is going to come up in people’s lives a few weeks ahead of the meetup that prevents them from going.

I’m hoping we don’t need firm commitments until within two months or so of the meetup and the commitments would mainly be to determine what size meeting room is needed.

I envision people just booking their own rooms at whatever hotel or motel floats their boat. That way, they can cancel 48 hours ahead if need be.

I imagine everyone is going to either drive or rent a car from the airport and can drive twenty minutes or so from their hotel to the meeting venue.

I’m not sure for security purposes we want to register as as an FR or Q group at a hotel. We might be safer spread out at different lodging.

SW Oregon, very rural, about 10 miles from remote CA border.

Centrally located.
Easy access via I-35, I-40, and Route 66.
Very red area, little chance of riots or looting and a distinct lack of pinheads, although I don’t get out much.
Reasonably priced lodging and entertainment.
Tornadoes are typically in the spring, but who wouldn’t like to see one...from a distance?

I doubt that my truck would even make it to Tulsa.

Very difficult to choose, and the odds of me being off work at the right time are about 1 in 6. But if it’s within a day or two’s drive and I’m off, anything within 1000 miles of Chattanooga, TN would work for me.

OK City has been named and that might be a good spot. Tulsa maybe too.

I’m pretty flexible. The big obstacle is my work schedule.

That’s why I want to iron out the date by the end of September—so that people have months ahead to put it on their schedules and do what they have to do to get time off or steer other people in their lives toward planning a family event for a different time.

I’m hoping we can schedule it at least 8 mos. out from the date.

This meetup is not doable within the next few months due to not being able to tell what might happen with COVID-9 lockdowns and general security issues surrounding the countdown to the election and whatever is going to occur as we barrel down toward it.

Then winter sets in. I’m sure people don’t want to drive through the mountains or plains in winter. Even Kentucky is not that great in winter.

I don’t know what the earliest month would be. It depends on which city/area wins out. Some places might be too cold and possibly even snowy in April.
