COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
A Columbus man has to have his arms amputated after being attacked by three pit bulls.
Forty-two-year-old Dudley Willis says he was walking home from the store last week when he was mauled by three pit bulls belonging to one the neighbors on the corner of 38th Street and Earline Avenue.
He was left laying here in this area, just left laying out here. Nobody called for help or nothing. He was just left laying out here, says his sister Alycia Willis.
Alycia Willis says he was left there for an hour and twenty-five minutes before being taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital.
The hospital called us after he had a seven-hour surgery. He has been through six surgeries since Sunday, says Alycia Willis.
She received another one of those phone calls during the interview with News Leader 9. The doctors told her that both of her brothers arms will have to be amputated.
It kind of scares me, says neighbor Carson Layfield.
Neighbors say the dogs have been a common problem for close to a year now. Some of the kids in the neighborhood say they cant even walk to their bus stop without fear.
The dogs chased them up the street and theyre only 10 and 8 years old. Theyre scared to death, says area resident Josh Drysdale.
The family says animal control has taken the dogs and the owner has been arrested. Neighbors say there are other dogs belonging to that same owner that they say are just as dangerous.
Its been an ongoing situation. They chased my daughter. She is six years old. If that would have been her, if that wouldve been a child thats going through what my brother is going through, they would not have survived, says Alycia Willis.
The family of the victim says they will be taking legal action against the owner of the dogs. They say for now theyre just wishing their loved one a speedy recovery.

Please pray for this man, Dudley Willis. He has lost his arms due to an attack by pit bulls.
Man, he laid there for almost an hour and a half.
I see that WTVM is having trouble identifying the dog’s owner.
Don’t blame poor pitties - labradoodles do the same - even worse!
/s
Just a start
I consider it a minor miracle that he did not bleed out. My thought is that the pack of dogs broke his arms. Infection is and will be an ongoing issue. Six surgeries in 48 hours, He is in no way out of the woods.
I hope he survives.
My wife and I are having a bad time having each lost a leg. I can’t even imagine losing both arms.
“A neighbor.”
/s, indeed.
Three pit bulls would each require two to three rounds of well placed 9mm to put them down. Carry accordingingly.
I see the cherry pickers who condemn a breed are bored this Saturday.
You know like the cherry pickers on the left who can find the one racist cop out of 10000 who picks on blacks, then causes riots against cops. Good job.
Muslims are to regard dogs as unclean. It is just as well. If it were to become common for muslims to own pit bulls . . .
So much for the pit-pitiers and their bull-$#!t.
...and there was that bunny that attacked Jimmuh!
>>I see the cherry pickers who condemn a breed are bored this Saturday.
You should call them Pitbullophobic to fit in with all the other apologists for undeniably evil things.
Pray for this poor soul. To be ripped apart and left to die is horrible.
He may sue, but chances are the stupid dog owner has very little to win that would be enough to help this man.
