I don’t recall reading that regime change was a realistic goal of the US in North Korea. They are protected by the Chinese, there is nothing we can do to get rid of them, at least not through riots in the streets and the government being toppled. They would just kill everyone and there would be no news about it.
But in Iran, there is a chance to have a movement that results in the Mullahs fleeing with their stolen bank accounts. If we can accomplish that, there is no reason to negotiate with the Mullahs, we just wait for the next government, which will presumably be more free.

Yes to all of your post concerning the Nor Cal fires. I heard 2 eye witness accounts about seeing a beam come from the sky and started at least one of the fires in Sonoma County.
Reports from seasoned firemen on the unbelievable amount of cars that were burned/melted and flipped upside down when there was no other signs of heavy wind damage.
If you drive around Sonoma County, it is obvious the selective damage. Wineries untouched, yet right outside fence line, homes completely gone. Almost as if tourist type attractions were spared yet homes/neighborhoods were set on fire.
Something weird went on here last October, and I would bet this year as well.
That must be why I didn’t quote the part about Regime change and only posted the part about your concerns about how the meeting would ‘legitimize’ them. Just like the media squealed about North Korea

Thank you. I watched the fires last year and am watching them now, in total disbelief that these are natural fires.
We’ve been overwhelmed with fires here and authorities have run out of believable stories. Fortunately we don’t have the fire load you do, evacuations and some structure loss but a drop in the bucket compared to California.
