Remote-access software and modems on election equipment 'is the worst decision for security short of leaving ballot boxes on a Moscow street corner.'

That's not enough! Once they're in, they're in. It would be way too easy to do what they were hired to do plus some other work, even undo what they did earlier, or add something new that won't be noticed for a while, if ever.
Another wacky conspiracy theory proven true!
(Big win for us “conspiracy wackos”.)
I have always wondered if we could be issued a randomly generated verification number at the time of voting that will be recorded at the time of voting that could be verified publicly so everyone could see their vote and verify it without revealing identity...
I think this is another purpose for block chain technology that could do something similar.

LOL well played
Where is Alfred E Sessions?
Or is it full of crooks who know exactly what they are doing?
I write software for a living. In fact, I regularly write GUIs (Graphical User Interface) for data acquisition. I echo what other posters have said.
No pure electronic voting, ever. EVER.
Where I vote (in Alabama) is still the best method in my opinion.
Handed a large card-stock paper ballot.
Fill in the circle of the candidate you vote for.
Optical scanner reads the votes and tabulates.
After polls close, vote totals are retrieved from scanner. No calling in.
All ballots are available to be quickly re-ran through machines to verify vote totals.
In case of malfeasance, votes can easily be counted by hand.
It should be a crime to have any remote electronic access to any vote tabulating machine.
True, but as I mentioned previously, it would take an army of dedicated techs working on each individual machine. Possible, yes; probable, no.
The control is a matter of policy - not capability. The fact that these machines had external control software installed while being used for voting is criminal - or at least it should be.
Felony-level criminal.
Why not both?
actually it probably is both- there must be crooks that know they are screwing the USA, but they can’t succeed without the useful idiots.
