Planned Parenthood launched a fierce attack on U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Monday night, claiming he would wreak havoc on abortion.
With pro-abortion Justice Anthony Kennedys retirement, Kavanaugh could swing the court to a conservative majority and be a deciding opinion on vital issues like abortion restrictions and Roe v. Wade.
Kavanaugh has served on the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C. for more than a decade, where he developed an extensive record of protecting religious liberty and enforcing restrictions on abortion. Pro-life leaders believe he would do the same on the Supreme Court.
The abortion industry is worried.
Dawn Laguens, vice president of Planned Parenthood, told the AP in a statement: Theres no way to sugarcoat it: With this nomination, the constitutional right to access safe, legal abortion in this country is on the line.
On Monday evening, Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups held a raucous protest outside the U.S. Supreme Court as Trump made his announcement. The protest became so nasty that some journalists said they left because they did not feel safe broadcasting there.
At least seven people were arrested during a similar protest Monday night outside Trump Tower in New York City where abortion was a key focus, PIX 11 News reports.
SIGN THE PETITION: Vote to Confirm Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh
Roe v. Wade has been at the center of most discussions about the nomination. With five conservative justices on the Supreme Court, the infamous abortion ruling could be overturned and the power to restrict or prohibit abortions and protect unborn babies returned to the states.
Its clear our constitutional right to access abortion is on the line. You dont even need to take our word for it, Planned Parenthood wrote on Twitter, pointing to a tweet by the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List that praised Kavanaugh as an outstanding choice.
Cecile Richards, who ran Planned Parenthood for more than a decade, also blasted the nomination, saying Roe v. Wade and the future of abortion is at stake.
We cannot allow our daughters to have fewer rights than we do, Richards said on social media.
In reality, overturning Roe would give daughters more rights by allowing states to protect their rights before they are even born.
San Francisco lawyer Steve Mayer, who briefly worked with Kavanaugh, had a different idea about what might happen with the court. He said the nominee is no friend of abortion, but Roe v. Wade might be overturned in pieces, rather than as a whole.
ABC 7 reports more:
As for how hed vote, Mayer says, My guess would be that Roe versus Wade will die the death of a thousand cuts rather than an outright overruling, at least at first.
Judge Kavanaugh is definitely not acceptable to us, said Gilda Gonzales, president of Planned Parenthood Northern California. Gonzales says Planned Parenthood is working to ensure womens rights are not diminished by reversing Roe v. Wade. If a vast majority of Americans dont agree with this, this is the moment that their voices need to be heard.
Meanwhile, national pro-life leaders have expressed high hopes for Kavanaugh and the future of unborn babies rights.
Seems that PP wrecks havoc on the unborn.
The Baby Killers don’t like him ... so he must be okay.
That's the idea, Sweetie. Now go make me a sammich.
The unborn were unavailable for comment
Yet McCain says he's fine. Misdirection by PP?
Summary:
Planned parenthood is against the nominee because pro-life groups are for him.
Pro-life groups are for the nominee because planned parenthood is against him.
He’s got some big liberal radical enemies. That helps indicate this is a good choice, doesn’t it?
Remember that woman doctor secretly filmed wanting the abortion staff to be careful not to do “crunchy” abortions because the sales value of baby parts taken apart are lowered if not kept whole? She wanted the money for a Lamborghini.
Exactly why are good people supposed to listen to their political advice about the Supreme Court nominee?
Leftists could simply move to one of the various slaves states were the unborn are not even considered 3/5ths of a human.
The takeaway from all this “sky is falling rhetoric” is that Liberals think Supreme court Judges are supposed to legislate from the bench and achieve Liberal objectives rather than uphold the Constitution & our system of checks & balances. They fear that Conservatives will act as the Left has acted.
The Liberal Judges of the past decades have succeeded in warping: the rule of law, the primacy of State jurisdiction in matters not given to the Feds and have legislated morality not in agreement with our history or with the majority’s beliefs. They have placed American values under attack by tortured & fanatical interpretation of the Constitution. It is no wonder the Left is frantic with fear, they are about to be undone if we revert to Justice, Unbiased, Equal under the Law & in line with the Constitution.
In summary the thief cries thief and Liberalism is indeed a mental disorder.
there. fixed it.
it may be nothing more than a hill he doesn’t want to fight Trump on.
Same thing with gay marriage which is just as important.
We're messing with children's heads on sex and marriage and life.
Tragedy!!
Silly feminist!
As someone has pointed out in another thread, Brett is an XY.
No wonder the Left is onboard with genderism since their grasp of science is so shaky.
So there ok with 2A, smaller gov’t., individual rights, etc.?
The problem is we've been trying to pound it into people's heads that it's some kind of right...The right to kill?? It's an absurdity.
I’d hope you’re right, and maybe our more advanced medical knowledge about the unborn would lead laws more in the direction of reality.
