The startling finding means that experts may not be able to spot the massive space rock hidden in the annual Taurids meteor shower until it is too late.
According to a group of researchers, one of the fragments could hit Earth in 2022, 2025, 2032 or 2039 during the annual meteor shower.
The Taurids is a spectacular meteor shower that lights up the night skies every November.
The meteor shower is the trail of debris left by the comet Encke.
But the debris could be obscuring two asteroid chunks known as 2015 TX24 and 2005 UR that are potentially Earth-bound.
Earth's orbit passes through the region in space every few years, and experts from the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Science believe that we are drawing closer to it, and that there may be more unknown chunks that experts have not recognised yet...
The asteroids that are known to the researchers are between 200 and 300 metres wide.
To put that into perspective, in 2013 a 20 metre meteor exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, which smashed windows and caused injuries to more than 1,000 people.
If the asteroid chunks are at least 10 times that size, the damage could be catastrophic.

Well don’t this beat all! First there’s a story earlier this week about how spiders use electricity to fly meaning we got electric flying spiders who can zap us to death and now a big hunk of a space rock is coming smashing down on us! I tell ya some mornings it just don’t pay to get outta bed! Ah.... wait a sec,..that might be ... ah, redundant. I gotta figure this out....
Movie ... ? oh yes ... those total jokes that pass for some sort of reality created by hollywood spewing misconceptions and physical falsehoods about how to deal with a very real threat into the public consciousness turning something deadly into a joke.
You do know that there is accumulating more and more evidence for a previous civilization to our own which was totally obliterated by a Taurid astroid strike? Confirmation of such a civilization would answer many current unanswerable questions, like who made the Piri Reis map, how did the Sumerians go from a farming/herding culture to one with a written language and advanced mathematics overnight; who really built the unified Giza complex with knowledge of the diameter of the Earth etc incorporated into the structures; who built Gobekli Tepe 12,500 years ago and why did they burry it; and more?
Au contraire. We need to know about it with sufficient time to work on it.
That has been proposed, I think the book is around here, uh, somewhere.
