This is an older study, but it was referenced in an article I read on health site.

There was a vanity thread a week or two ago in which many complained about tinnitus. This approach appears to quickly get rid of it in up to 81% of patients. Do note that 3 mg of melatonin is cheap and available and any store; including Walmart and worked in resolving 40% of all cases. Talk with your doctor to see if these options work for you.

The original title is, “Sulpiride and melatonin decrease tinnitus perception modulating the auditolimbic dopaminergic pathway.”

It doesn’t “get rid of” tinnitus. It reduces your perception of it. Big difference.

First, it looks like both chemicals have to be taken together for the tinnitus to be significantly reduced.

Second, the study did not demonstrate a cure for the tinnitus. The chemicals reduced awareness of tinnitus, but not the condition itself.

Third, the age of this study and the fact that tinnitus continues to be considered untreatable makes me suspect that the results were not repeated in subsequent studies.

Most treatments for tinnitus consist of strategies to distract attention from the ceaseless noise.

I have meneire’s disease. I don’t think its actually a disease but rather a malfunction in the inner ear. There’s too much water.

The ringing in my ears is pretty heavy. I’m 65. The ringing only started in earnest a couple of years ago. I’m praying its not progressive. Meneires people say meneire’s is not progressive.

I take 3-5 mg of melatonin before bed. It helps me sleep. I also have the wide screen tv’s playing seashore or cicada night or rainy night sounds as I sleep.
