Overweight office workers could be allowed to miss the rush hour commute, ask for a larger chair or work from home.
Workers who are overweight should be allowed to turn up later to work, according to a government adviser.
Leading employment specialist Stephen Bevan is to pitch a new plan to protect obese people under discrimination law, reports the Mirror.
This could allow overweight office workers to miss the rush hour commute, ask for a larger chair or work from home.
Professor Bevan, who is a member of Public Health England's advisory board and has advised the Department of Work and Pensions, will suggest the changes at the European Congress on Obesity in Vienna.
Research has recently revealed people from Britain are the most prejudiced towards overweight people in Europe.
And now Professor Bevan will advise 2,000 medics that obesity should be classed as a "protected characteristic" - allowing workers to sue bosses who fat shame them.
We need to coordinate our efforts so that people who want to work can do so," he said.
It can be working time, it can be having a bit of understanding that someone might need to turn up at 10am because they have trouble with transport or anxiety about transport.
Some people say that obesity is the last characteristic that its still socially acceptable to make fun of.
We have a scheme in the UK called Access to Work which not many employers know about.
If you are an individual living with a health condition or an impairment you can get support, paid for by the Government to make accommodations.
It could be transport or it could be working from home.

translation; workers with unhealthy, sendentary habits should have those habits catered to by employers. Don’t treat the problem, just the symptoms
Just like when colored people absurdly demand free stuff; these idiot demands from fat people will only serve to harm their cause.
If they want dignity and respect, then quit making childish requests like this.
Wait a minute. What if I am a skinny person that self identifies as “obese”? How am I treated?/s
So, why shouldn’t smokers be allowed to work from home since most businesses forbid the now?
Everybody is a victim these days.
LOL ping!
When is this insanity going to stop?
And people outside of the 90th percentile in height, that is short or tall people, should be given a tax write-off because they pay extra for everything related to clothing, Vehicles Etc...
Well, I’m not overweight (by much) - but I self-identify as obese, does that count?
