Just won the Belmont. 13th Triple Crown winner, first undefeated winner since Seattle Slew in 1977.
Soros’ ‘ownership’ is pretty close to fake news. The convoluted agreements between SF and Justify’s principal owners indicate SF may get almost no financial gain.
And there’s nothing mysterious about the SF group. They are international breeders and very well known.
I liked the way Smith asked for a bucket of water to cool down the horse who was sweating.
Cue 70s adult movie music.
I’m a lifelong horseracing fan. Remember the Triple Crown winners of the 70’s very well.
It’s so special and wonderful when this happens. Just had one in 2015 with American Pharaoh.
Hope I see a few more before I’m gone.
I think the record is more like $200K.
And thoroughbreds must do it the old-fashioned way.
Justify toyed with the field and won going away. He ran it in 2:28, Secretariats record is 2:24, which I think comes out to about 25 lengths Secretariat would have beat him by. With that said, horse racing needs Triple Crown winners and Justify was without a doubt the best this year. Congratulations to Justify for running a great race. After the Preakness I didnt think he could do it.
LOL. Yep, Justify is going to have a life where he gets into it with all those young fillies.
I know nothing of horse racing, but, was still surprised to learn how these winning horses are much more valuable for breeding, than they would be to continue racing.
I made my young kids watch it - they were not all that impressed, but I told them they would remember it the rest of their lives.
The most thrilling for me to this day is Secretariat. What a horse.
Great to have a new Triple Crown winner today too!
Secretariat holds the record, but you never know how a winning horse responds to a challenger running next to them or in front of them. Some horses perform better with a horse to chase and they run faster. Justify led the whole way, pulled away at the end, and still appeared to have a lot left.
They are all magnificent animals!
Exciting~!!!! Congrats to Justify, Mike Smith and his Trainer Bob Baffert~! Especially to Justify~!!!!
I met Seattle Slews brother.
Secretariat would have beaten American Pharaoh, too.
There was definitely a guardian angel riding with these guys today.
I would suggest there is artificial insemination with each total specimen split into as many as smaller shots as required to guraantee results.
Justify’s sire, Scat Daddy, died unexpectedly in 2015 at the age of 11. Justify is part of his last crop.
A horse cannot be called a ‘Thoroughbred’ if produced by artificial insemination. Only thoroughbreds can race for the Triple Crown.
I wonder. I feel that some of these horses DO know.
I wonder if any horse will ever do the Belmont the way Secretariat did. I sure hope not.
