The results of that are that the elite schools stop being elite after a few years. I saw that in my Adventures in Substituting.
Will they still call them “elite” when the crud demolish them, bring horrible violence to the schools, and hound all the teachers into quitting? What will they debase after that happens?
Will four years of college be enough “remedial” education to get them up to a high school graduate level?
All this crap for a small fraction of the population.
Please notice that this is NOT the teachers lowering the standards. It has NEVER been the teachers.

Hell, why shouldn’t kids with IQs in the 70s and 80s have a chance for an elite education? We’re going to need more medical doctors and rocket scientists. ;-)

Actually I don’t think so. Their goal has nothing to do with educating blacks and Latinos (they remain opposed to that) it is all about appearances and votes.
And don’t think that a highly educated black and Latino population would help the Dems. I don’t believe that for a second and neither do the Dems.
The NY Giants and the NY Jets should do the same thing. Scrap try outs. Set aside 20% of starting positions for people who are out of shape and have never played football.
The noncompetitive NFL recruiting results will be the same as bringing unprepared students into elite and competitive high schools - those who are unprepared will be crushed. I won’t see it in either case, since I’m not in their schools, and I won’t be watching the NFL this year.
