I have the android version of that browser, and have never had any problems with it. I don’t know enough to advise as to whether you have malware or just an incompatibility issue.

I have brave and I’ve not seen any pay tracker.

I think it’s possible to donate to Brave...that’s their business model, iirc. But, I’ve just stayed with away from that stuff.

Aw, come on... It’s called “BRAVE,” not “paranoid coward.” Don’t get so uptight about (”scare quotes”) malware and (”scare quotes again”) security.

(Yes, I’m purely joking.)

What do you mean you “keep getting something”? ...a popup, a redirection to another page?

I have the Brave browser running with Win 7, never had a problem. Check your browser extensions. Some times bad web sites will, unknown to you, add a malicious extension.

Some of these bad extensions will modify the extension area of your browser so that when you look at your installed extensions the browser will report you don’t have any extensions installed when you know you do.

Solution is to bookmark the sources of your extensions, back up your bookmarks, uninstall the browser, get a new download of the browser, install, reload your bookmarks and reinstall the extensions from the bookmarked sources.

It could be related to this:

Don’t have Brave, although it is an interesting concept.

I used Brave for a couple of weeks recently to try it out. I was checking it out to see if it was something I could recommend to friends who do not know how to use security extensions.

It worked OK until it came time to have it update itself. After flogging my internet connection for literally 10 times the amount of time that any other browser takes for an update I got worried, killed it with the Windows process manager and uninstalled it.

This is not about Brave but still tech related.

All I get when browsing the latest articles page is the article title, the excerpts have disappeared.

Any ideas of how to get the excerpts to show up again? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I’ve used Brave for a long time and love it. Haven’t had any such issue.

I’ve been using it for quite a while ,, works well for me ... only issue is with cut and paste errors ... I think it is related to low available memory ... I’d recommend it...

I use Brave almost exclusively. I do that because it was created by Brendan Eich, the man who lost his job at Mozilla - though he was its creator - because he donated $1000 to a pro marriage ballot initiative in California ten years earlier. I support my peeps. Plus, it’s fast.

I give up!
I uninstalled Brave.
I ran Malwarebytes.
I ran spybot.
I re-installed Brave using the above link to download AND it took me back to paytrace (or whatever it is called.

I guess I’m not supposed to use BRAVE!

Back to Chrome & Duckduckgo.
