Is BRAVE browser OK

Posted on 05/31/2018 8:13:54 AM PDT by conservativesister

Downloaded BRAVE browser and keep getting something called Pay Trace, is this an infection? Ran Spybot & Malwarebytes, nothing showing. Any suggestions?

Scroll back to the top of the Latest Articles page. Look just above the first article listed; see that faint bar? (Mine is light blue) Follow it to the right and click on “Text”, as in, Brevity:text. Bob’s your uncle, or somethin’.

I use Brave on my Android, I like it well enough. I can’t be certain, but the pay trace thing might be adjustable in one of the settings. As was mentioned, you can donate money to offset the revenue lost by websites as a result of the blocking of ads. Your best bet is to look at the Brave documentation. I don’t believe the browse4 is a malware, bit that doesn’t mean it can’t have been placed into a new wrapper with such a pay thing added into the wrapper. Much depends on where you downloaded the software from.

My only issue with brave on my phone is that it seems to have difficulty with word wrapping and text size working together. Other than that, it works super for me. I can even play vids without the advertising some sites like to include with thei4 vids.

Do some research.

I’ve been using it for quite a while ,, works well for me ... only issue is with cut and paste errors ... I think it is related to low available memory ... I’d recommend it...

When I click on the Brave icon, it takes me straight to pay trace, can’t find anything about brave

Sounds like your browser homepage has been hijacked. No big deal. Use settings to change your homepage to something else. I prefer a blank page, but that's me.

I use Brave almost exclusively. I do that because it was created by Brendan Eich, the man who lost his job at Mozilla - though he was its creator - because he donated $1000 to a pro marriage ballot initiative in California ten years earlier. I support my peeps. Plus, it’s fast.

I give up!
I uninstalled Brave.
I ran Malwarebytes.
I ran spybot.
I re-installed Brave using the above link to download AND it took me back to paytrace (or whatever it is called.

I guess I’m not supposed to use BRAVE!

Back to Chrome & Duckduckgo.
